I think something like that could feasibly be done either by using the spell tome nif model to be essentially a staff or a shield.

If you went with the staff route the spell casting would be easier to natively fire off whatever spell you'd have associated to your bookstaff.

If you went with the shield route the spell casting would require a script that would use event animations centered around blocking or being hit to cast spells. Personally I think the shield method would allow more flexibility, but be a little harder to get it working.

I was thinking about something similar, but rather than cast spells from the book itself, I was looking at having it equiped as a spell modifier so the spell in the other hand could be altered in some fashion. I have that on my.list of ideas, that I plan to look into at some point in time.

Yea I meant more along the lines of what you were thinking. Not casting with the book itself. More like what you were saying. The book is on your off hand, and your character kind of looks at it and casts.

More on that shield thing. I think itâd be neat if there was also a mechanic where you hold down block and your character starts to read it. The longer you read it, the more powerful the spell, until you press the fire button and then he looks up and casts. If you cast without reading, it just does base damage.
