Request assistance recovering deleted companion mod, please read?

Hey all,

I was trying to fix the Hesna Bearclaw follower mod when I uninstalled it/deleted for a fresh install. For some reason I didn't keep a local copy of the mod, and it seems that the day this happened was the exact same day the mod was deleted. If you could contact me so we can discuss the method of which you will share your copy of the mod I would really appreciate it.

[EDIT: At this point in my original post I indicated not knowing why the mod was removed. Since then the owner has replied to my message and indicated why they removed the mod, and as I mentioned in my original post I still stand by respecting that decision. I am in the process of gaining permission from the mod author to download/copy the mod from another user.]

Here's links in case anyone can't use google/doesn't own the mod.

If you're going to say I should find another mod companion or grow up, please do yourself a favor and go away. I'll treat your comments like your parents treated you, and ignore them.

the mod author in question has personally removed their mods from this site

as such , you would have to go through them if you wish to get a copy of their mods (it's not allowed to share someone elses work without permissions here)

so I would recommend PMing the mod author and personally requesting that they provide you a copy of their mod

That would be a fantastic suggestion if it wasn't something I already tried. I wouldn't have created a topic unless I hadn't tried contacting the mod author. Also while I would like to cite the mods permissions, I can't.

Jist of it is that the mod used to have open permission to share with credit. I'm just trying to recover lost files, not start distributing, so that's a moot point to bring up.

seeing as I can personally look at the permission settings of the mod , I can definitely say it isn't open share with credit

if you'd manage to get the authors' permission , I will gladly send you the file

but I can't do so without permissions from the author

as a side note , sorry for assuming you didn't try to contact the author

but I've seen such requests before , and most users don't try these things first

I'm glad to meet someone who tries solving issues themselves before jumping to the forums :)

Well a mod author can choose to change their permissions at any point in time and their work is protected by international intellectual copyright laws. So if the mod author pulled the work from nexus for whatever reason they can. Chances are they may have it hosted somewhere else, which you'd have to google. If not you're unfortunately in a shitty position, but it happens, as I know I've deleted my own work by accident more times than I care to admit and have to rebuild what I lost. Hell to be honest because of that I keep the mods I'm using installed in the data directory and their original zip files saved on another drive just incase. My own work I back up on to multiple flash drives just to be safe these days.

Best of luck.

Isn't the first time I've been wrong, either way it's not like I can grab it anyways. If I hear back from the author I'll give you a message, thanks for the offer!

Unfortunately creating a backup did not help as my hard drive died sometime earlier in June, and the new one arrived after this occurred. I appreciate the suggestion and well-wishes though, and hope people reading this who don't backup learn from my mistake.
