redxlaser15
I downloaded a armor replacer for CBBE, which ended up having some severe clipping issues. The clothing effectively fuses into the character's skin, making it look hideously torn, worn, and showing bits that aren't meant to be shown. Or, you know, at the present time anyway. I deleted the mod itself, but I have no clue how to get it out of the game's folder without risking deleting stuff I want to keep. I have no clue how to identify which ones come from the mod, and exactly as to where they are located at. I assume they are somewhere in the meshes and texture folders within skyrim's data folders, but other than that I'm not certain. I don't remember the name of the mod, but I do recall it having a section for how to uninstall it. The thing is, it wasn't explained in a way that I could understand it, and (at least from what I got) sounded as if it assumed you knew a fair amount about how bodyslide works. I know some basics, but I don't really understand it's directions. Can someone help me out?
WastelandAssassin
how exactly do you expect anyone to give you instructions on removing a mod , if we don't know which mod it is?I mean , the most general advice would be to just reinstall the game , but that is probably not the answer you are looking for...... my suggestion is to go through your download history on your Nexus profile , to find the mod you've downloadedwhen you find it , look at the file contents of the main filego to your game's folder , and find the specific files added by the mod . removing them should fix the issue
redxlaser15
Found it! I forgot it was actually two (They should be about 99% compatible with each other) mods: Omnisway Clothing Replacer and Vanilla Outfits BodySlided. I looked a bit at what was in there and it seems to be a lot, for me to get rid of all of it would possibly take hours. I don't actually know where the files are even put inside the Skyrim data folders, so that doesn't help. Is there a 'fast' way of getting rid of them? If not, can someone provide a good way to get a clean install of Skyrim? I get the feeling there is sneaky left-over junk still lying around from previous mods I deleted. Especially since I've had some wonky moments with NMM where it insisted I had a mod that I already deleted and other shenanigans. Frankly, a fresh clean of NMM might be nice too. I once tried to clean out NMM by deleting it and reinstalling it, yet it somehow seemed to retain some of it's stuff. Which is odd, to say the least. A clean install of Skyrim and NMM would certainly mean I'd need to reinstall my 20+ mods, but frankly, I've been needing to do it for a while. Does anyone know how to get NMM to not magically keep some of it's stuff? Which in turn shoves it back into Skyrim's data folders? I obvious did something wrong last time, despite me seemingly the whole of NMM. BTW, for some reason simply uninstalling and reinstalling Skyrim doesn't seem to actually clean it out, even with steam sync off. WastelandAssassin
the easiest way to go about is- uninstall the game- go to where your game was installed , and delete any remaining files that might still be there (you could also delete the ini files and such if you think it's necessary , but it might not be required in your case)- reinstall the game you should also get a newer version of NMM , I believe it should have an option to install mods outside of your game's Data folder , which should prevent such issues from occurring in the futureif you don't mind a bit of learning , I would recommend going for MO2 instead of NMM , but that's just my personal preferences . NMM should still work for you if you wish to use thatand feel free to ask any questions you may have
redxlaser15
NMM does install mods in a seperate folder, but you inevitably still need to directly modify Skyrim's own stuff directly for lots of mods. A different folder does help a lot, but some mods are just particularly 'sticky,' you could say. And NMM doesn't really understand how to completely get rid of those ones. I don't actually know what MO2 is, other than it's evidently a mod loader. Would it still allow me to use NMMs automatic downloads? Or do I need to do it all manually? I've done manual several times so it shouldn't be too hard, but automatic is a very nice convenience. For now, I'll probably just try a new version of NMM (if applicable) and see if I can actually get rid of everything.EDIT: Thanks so much for mentioning how to get a clean save of Skyrim, that helped sooooo much! Sheesh, skyrim's folder is so empty now, so quiet. Time to add some mods back in! Also, when you mentioned the fact that NMM installed mods outside the game's data folder, that made me realise why mods kept popping back up even when I delete and reinstall NMM: Because the place it stores the mods in aren't deleted, and get automatically accessed again! This means I needed to manually delete the mods inside of that folder. Seriously, thank you so much for all that! Now I know how to get cleaned versions of each nice and easy for future reference! WastelandAssassin
no problemand for future reference , MO2 is Mod Organizer 2 , which is another mod managerit allows you to download mods directly through it , just like in NMM . I think it gives you more options on how to install and control your mods , so I find it superior to NMMbut that's my opinion , and I know that while some prefer it , others prefer NMM . so it's a matter of taste glad you were able to find the issue , and hopefully you've solved it :)
