shinderhizzle84
hello! I am new to the forums, so if this has been discussed before, please kindly tell me and give me the link to the thread. Well, I own a macbook pro (yeah, yeah i know, boo macs! lmao), the 15inch, 1,500 dollar one. I've basically got an Nvidia 8600m GT graphics card 256 mb vram, and i'm not exactly sure what the exact model of intel processor i have (although i know it's a really high-end model lol) Nevertheless, when i got my macbook pro a couple of months ago, i immediately put vista home premium on it, and installed oblivion. I remember that i was able to get the game to run on ultra-high settings, or, at least that's what it said i was running.... Then, a couple of weeks ago, i got a stupid idea into my head that, as a ridiculously novice programmer, i could tri-boot mac, windows, AND ubuntu lmao. I tried it, and ended up erasing all the partitions in my hard drive. After a lengthy reinstallation of both mac os x and windows vista home premium, i once more installed oblivion. However, this time around, no matter what i do, oblivion automatically sets it to medium quality, and there's no way i can change this w/o going into the game and putting everything in there ultra high. Yet even when i do that it doesn't look as good as it was before the failed ubuntu installation. So, with further ado, my question, ladies and gentlemen is....can i get a drumroll please??? How can i get oblivion to run the game on what IT would call "ultra high"? If there is no way to make it say it is running ultra high, what can i tweak in the options to make it run "ultra high". Any help i could get on this issue would be greatly appreciated. thank you!
Varus Torvyn
Did you install all of the Vista Hotfixes? Also, is UAC dead & buried? Try using the nVidia Control Panel to override. Boot it up. Select "manage 3D Settings" on the left side, and on the right select the "Program Settings" Tab. If Oblivion isn't in the small window, you can add it to the list. BTW, I'm going off of the nVcp in the latest version (175.19).
shinderhizzle84
thank you for the speedy reply. I appreciate your help, but, due to my extreme noobishness at...well..most things, i was unable to understand half of those acrynoms. Well, actually, all of them :D I know they are probably common knowledge to most of you on this board, so please bear with me lol. The only thing i was able to get out of that was i should go to the nvidia control panel....i will do that for now, and i give you guys an update. Thanks! Edit: lol should've known uac; yes, i disabled user account control the minute i reinstalled vista. I'm going to google the rest of these acronyms, and post what i found up here, because if it just so happens that what i found is completely wrong, then someone here can set me straight. Again, thanks!
