Non human companions healing

Is there any way for non human companions to heal themselves in the middle of combat ? Human companions

are using stimpaks quite often, and they could be seen doing that.

 

I am pretty sure Strong does not, ever. Nick Valentine, too, I think. Can I give Strong

something like brahmin meat or some other kind of meat ? Or, maybe, squirrel or iguana ?

Some other, specific food ? Water ?

 

This makes non human companions inferior, despite higher HP. Not sure about Curie in humanoid form,

never had her as companion.
