TheVampireDante
BOS: Repeated loss of recon teams sparks Maxson to launch an assault force to investigate. They arrive later, but in large, well equipped numbers. Occupation of area takes place until either: 1. Institute is located and destroyed.2. Brotherhood is destroyed.3. Brotherhood is infiltrated by Synths orders are given to return to capital wasteland, spreading Synths in large numbers and giving the Institute a foothold in the area.4. Maxson ragequits after a time and orders a purge of the area. Local population is vastly reduced in areas, other places become holdouts until the Brotherhood is recalled to move on to other things. Railroad: Stays "small time" operation wise, no dramatic increase in scale or intensity. They continue to filter out a few synths at a time, run their other jobs and keep an eye out for new potential hideouts and bases to move to if needed.Institute continues to search for them as a secondary priority as long as they remain a small time nuisance. Maybe one day their luck runs out and they get cornered without an escape route, and it'll end there. Minutemen: Indeed, without outside intervention, Preston and company are pretty much done for in Concord. Very slim chance of it turning out otherwise. If it did, and they managed to make it to Sanctuary ( avoiding the Deathclaw by having Marcy nag it into submission), then best bets is they'd settle in, fix up a few places and try and live out life there by keeping a low profile and dealing with a few traders. Other than that, I doubt the other remnants of the minutemen would try and reform. Be more likely to drift off outside the commonwealth, join other groups or pick a spot and set up home. Institute: It'll carry on as usual, finalizing their plan to start their reactor and step up synth production and expansion plans. Taking in people from the surface that they find would be valuable to their continuation. The replacement of important people on the surface would likely continue until they knew that the Boston area was fully controlled (See Brotherhood listing above for thoughts on their presence and potential outcomes). Potentially at one point (if the surface population starts to become more unstable/hostile) they roll out a mass Synth troop detachment and hold the Commonwealth by force of numbers until people get used to them being present. TheGadget1945
Preston dies and no settlements are ever marked on maps. Codsworth continues cutting the hedge till his energy cell gives up. Cait dies at 30 in her last Combat zone fight, Curie continues to wait for Vault Tec to show up. Billy waits in the fridge.
Moksha8088
It would probably be a toss-up between the Brotherhood and the Institute getting the upper hand. That would all come to an abrupt end when Alduin the World Eater emerges from an interdimensional vortex to fulfill his part of the prophecy. Tilarium
I think the Vampire got the Brotherhood right. After they lose enough Recon teams Maxson will either consider the area to dangerous and ignore expansion there or see it as a reason to take a full force in. Take what they have now, and multiply it by 10. The Institute would have no chance against that force, nor would the Commenwealth. The Brotherhood would likely take charge of the area and for the most part leave the population alone as long as they don't get in the Brotherhoods way. Without the Institute, the Railroad would eventually fade away. The Minutemen would die with Preston in Concord. Even if they picked off the raiders, the Deathclaw would eventually show up and I could see Preston dying while holding it off long enough for anyone still alive to make it out.
