cdiddy
I am placing books in my house in solitude and am quickly running out space on bookshelves and I will soon only have left regular shelves (not activated) and will need to place books on them. is there any way to turn obejects around in any fashion other then just moving my toon and hoping for the best? Its not really the only thing I need it for actually like I have a butterfly in a jar that I stole somewhere and whenever I pick it up to place it somewhere it lays on its side and the statue of dibela that I stole always faces the wrong way no matter how much I try to get it to spin around. SergeantGrrock
There are console commands you can use to manipulate objects. The following link isn't the best info on the subject but it will give you an idea where to start looking. http://gaming.stackexchange.com/questions/40146/how-can-i-move-and-place-items-properly Be warned it's tough to master and it will be a learning curve. Like I said maybe not the best link but the first one I found on the subject. Hope it helps. Wow. After reading it That's really a crappy page. For some reason I can't find the one I used. What you're looking for involves this... GetPos <axis>SetPos <axis> <value>GetAngle <axis>SetAngle <axis> <value> You might be able to do things like this with the CK too. But I wouldn't know. cdiddy
GetPos <axis>SetPos <axis> <value>GetAngle <axis>SetAngle <axis> <value> ok was trying this out, while it makes perfect sense as I can just set the angle to whatever I want it to be it is not actually working. I target the object I want info for, type getpos x, and the consol accepts my command but does not return info. I tried setpos x ### as well but when I picked up the objects I was trying to move and test with nothing happened. It could be because I am inside a custom house... edit* tried it on objects outside of house too and nothing. edit** just seen a video on youtube I am going to try. Guy picked up the item and punched the s*** out of it til it did what he wanted. edit*** ok I had no idea that I could click on stuff while console was open. apparently that was my initial issue. SergeantGrrock
Just out of curiosity... sounds like you're having success with it now?
RedRavyn
Decorator's Assistant I used it in Oblivion and considered it an essential "tool mod". I haven't tried it for Skyrim, yet, since I'm not really into houses or decorating them, but I'm sure it's just as good in this incarnation. I feel your pain, though. In Oblivion we could at least get some control over an object. It was possible to grab just one corner and spin it around, for instance, however rudimentary the control was. In Skyrim all you can do is pick something up. If you turn while you're carrying it, the object maintains the same orientation with respect to the world, rather than turning with the actor. The problem, I think, is that this is yet another example of how the gamesystem has been simplified. What it seems like is happening is that grabbing any object grabs it at its center. This is why you don't have control. I've even run into problems where a corpse might be partially stuck in the terrain and can't be moved. In Oblivion if an arm was over an object you wanted to interact with you could just move the arm out of the way. You didn't have to move the entire body. In Skyrim you can't. Oh well ... I guess that's "progress", at least from Bethesda's perspective. Decorator's Assistant is real progress, though. Try it. I think you'll like it. SergeantGrrock
RedRavyn - You nailed it exactly. I just like setting up my "trophies" but it can be maddening. FO3 must have been a lot like Oblivion in object manipulation. Like you said you could just grab a corner of an object and have some success. Not so in Skyrim. Sometimes I think it would be better if it just wasn't possible at all. :wallbash: Maybe somebody at Beth just has a mean streak. Thanks for the tip on Decorator's Assistant. I'll check it out.

Don't remember reading this before... Though I'm sure that's satisfying, I don't see how it would help. Oh and judging from the comments, "Decorators Assistant" doesn't look like it takes much of the pain away either. Oh well. That's why I just do the best I can with the in game controls that totally suck. Anyway, if you're going to try out D.A. I doubt I can be much help because I haven't used it. Like I said above... I wasn't impressed with the comments. So, the first thing it says you need is "Script Dragon", something else I have not installed (so far) but just don't forget you'll have to install that first (if you haven't already). ;) As far as the asi folder... I don't have that folder either. Maybe Script Dragon adds it?? Let me know how it goes....

I would need to know the exact cords to pull it off flawlessly with console. all I can do is rotate it.
