Performance friendly alternative to Beth's HR Texture Pack

Hi!

I finally got Beth's texture pack to work, however i sometimes get CTDs and FPS hits, probably due to the higher rez.

My questions:

1) which MOD texture packs out there get me the same / better effect without such a strong performance hit

2) are "texture optimizers" recommendable (little programs that reduce texture sizes for faster loads while not loosing HD)

3) i found a thread recommending adding the HRTexturePack unter "Archive" in the skyrim.ini and DEACTIVATING the esps in NMM, then adding other texture mods. Tried that, didnt work for me (invisible heads). HOWEVER, if i did something wrong, would this improve performance?

Skyrim Realistic Overhaul

This is the most optimized texture pack out their. There is a 1024 & 2048 version with optional 4096 Mountains. If you use it my advice is if you have 512-1024 Dedicated card memory go with the 1024 If you have more then 1024 then go with 2048.

The landscape textures are better then HD2k's but HD2K May have better city textures. You could always mix the 2.

I don't recommend texture optimizers as I have tried them my self and My opinion they make your textures less quality then if you just downloaded a 1024 Texture pack.
