antstubell
Hi all.So I modded a few Wood Elves that live in the forest with nothing more than a tent and a chest. One of the Wood Elves is a merchant and as I don't know how to create a locked chest or get the message "Steal from..." (that's another topic but any help appreciated) the chest is ripe for pillage. I put a Lightning Rune over the chest, a mild deterent but another step on the learning curve for me, I set it to respawn, which I haven't see it do yet, but big problem is the Wood Elf nearest the chest sometimes sets off the trap as I approach or it has been set off beforehand. How can I make this NPC, who owns the chest, not set off the rune? Thanks for any help.
jet4571
If you want the chest locked there is the locked tab when you edit the chest ref. in that tab is a checkbox for locked and you can choose what level or if it requires a key.If you want it owned by the NPC you choose the ownership tab in the chests ref, put the NPC you want to own the chest in the NPC box.If you want NPC's to not set off traps give them the lightfoot perk. Is that chest the vendor merchants chest that holds all that he sells? if it is those are usually hidden underground. and a common generic bandit loot chest is visible. antstubell
Thanks for the tip about giving NPCs perks. Now to the chest. I am a noob and I don't see anywhere in the chest's window a tab, button or checkbox that says "Lock" or "Locked" or anything similar. See screenshot. What am I missing? Stemin
If it was a door, you just double click on the door and the menu pops up with lockable, open closed, etc. I don't know if you can do the same with containers. Sorry, I'm a newb. I just thought you might be able to try it before you sit and wait for a response. Not sure if that's the same menu as what you posted or not. jet4571
the reference not the chest in the items list. right click on the one in the world and edit, double click it, or find it in the list of items in that cell and edit from there. tabs are there. the items that are in the items list are general information about the items that is global.
