GenkiM
Hi. I'm just about to buy Fallout 4 to play through for the first time. I was recommended this: I was recommended this: https://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/23556 Should I install all of these for my first play through? If not all of these, which mods should I install for my first play through, or should I install all of those?
Crosstieger
I would advise that you start vanilla and add mods as you go along. If you don't know how the game feels in vanilla state it might be a bad idea to add mods right away. Also it can spoil you a lot of things. If you encounter something that you don't like or you get the thought "man would be nice to do this or that" that's when you should look for mods. WastelandAssassin
personally I wouldn't install all of these mods for a first playthroughthere are quite a few gameplay overhauling mods in that list , and these will drastically change how the game will play for youwhile this might be nice for someone that already knows the game , I think it would be best that you at least get a feel for how the vanilla game is first , so that you would know how you wish to change it so I would honestly recommend starting with a vanilla game for at least a few hours , learn the different mechanics and how the game works (as it is rather different to older titles) , and after this you should decide how you wish to change the game , start installing the mods you wish to use , and start a new gamethis will take you a bit more time to do , but I think it would be better in the end , as you'll know what you are getting yourself into but that's just my opinion , and others may disagree with that

Was just wondering if there's any quality of life stuff that's definitely worth installing?
WastelandAssassin
generally speaking , the unofficial patch , and similar bug fixes of that sortmaybe some of the tools that fix performance as wellsome UI mods and such might also help , as they don't really affect gameplay if you look in the mod list you have linked , steps 2 and 3 contain quite a few rather useful ones , so I think you should use some of those

Just about to download the GOTY from Steam. :)
skyrim76
I would go on this for the first run. Like Crosstieger said, it is the best to go on vanila first but couple of mods wouldn't ruined anything: https://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/4598 https://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/16229 https://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/26286 Later if you want visual mods, my recommendation would be: Vivid fallout all in one, Vivid weathers, True storms, Stalker lights sweet fx, Darker nights, High resolution texture pack. For settlements, pipboy, armor...: Armor and weapon keywords, Armorsmith extended, Better wait menu, Crafting highlight fix, Crafting workbench, Eyewear and mask retexture, Faster terminal displays, Immersive maps, Lowered weapons, Move that workbench, OCDecorator, PIP-pad, Place everywhere, Scrap everything, Snap n' build, Super mutant redux, The eyes of beauty...etc. You will find what you like anyway, just don't forget to backup save game often. Of course with almost all this mods would be some required ones, like Mod configuration menu, F4se...etc. Edited August 3, 2018 by skyrim76

Not sure if it'll screw up my current save but I'm only a couple of hours in so I'm going to risk it.
skyrim76
You just didn't told us your configuration...I have a bit problems with all those visual mods with i5, gtx960, 16gb ram.... The game will be set Ultra by default with my configurations, BUT there is a lot external mods that my pc can't handle, so I often roll back resolution on 1600x900. If you run on FPS issues, then first try to open game launcher and in settings turn off Godrays, Weapon decal, set shadows to High...etc. Play it with settings a bit and test it in urban parts, because there is the most details that must be rendered. Moksha8088
Like Crosstieger said, just add one mod at a time. Those premade lists are just someone's preferences and they might not be your own. However, it would make sense to add the Unofficial Patch either before you start the game or ASAP. The simplest and most foolproof way to add mods for newcomers is with the Nexus Mod Manager. The LOOT program puts all your mods in more or less the right load order. It can be found here: https://loot.github.io/ Mods that I would definitely include: CBBEValdacil's Item SortingArmor and Weapon Keywords Community Resource (AWKCR)Armorsmith ExtendedClean and Simple SettlementsHeather Casdin Work your way out from there with what looks good to you.
