DeathlessAphroditeOriginal
Hello all, I'd like to have more difference color-wise between already addressed topics and new ones. Those shades of grey are too similar to my eyes. So I was wondering, is there a way to alter the text color for dialogue topics? I've looked everywhere for a mod and didn't find one, but I know it's possible for inventory text, so it should be doable. Can anybody help me? Thanks in advance. steve40
There's a slim possibility that there might be a setting for text color in the CK somewhere within the Gameplay menu, which has a lot of game-wide settings. There's also a very slim possibility that you could use HTML-like formatting for the dialogues (it works for the book texts), but if it did, you would have to edit every line of dialog in the game. I have found a dialoguemenu.swf file inside the interface bsa, but I don't think it's editable. I can't seem to find anything in the Gameplay menu, obviously formatting each line in the game isn't viable. Thanks for your help. steve40
The Gameplay menu is in the Creation Kit right next to the help menu at the top of the window. There are a lot of text and dialog related items in the "Settings..." submenu,

edclist
This is driving me nuts also. I'm really getting tired of straining to read dialog with Lydia. Whoever decided that grey on black was a viable option for text, in a menu that is CONSTANTLY being accessed is an idiot. PLEASE,PLEASE, PLEASE. Somewhere there is a trigger that says, "this text has been clicked on so change the color from white to grey". Where is it? I know there's a lot of great modders here who have done some truly fine work dealing with dialog menus. Someone must have a clue. I don't. I have a fair amount of experience modding environments and a little bit of scripting but absolutely no dialog experience. I was probably the first person to add a mailbox to the mail system in FONV and I did it without help but I am having NO LUCK with this issue. I don't care if it's a global affect or if it only effects Lydia.Just point me in the right direction, I have no idea where to start and my searches have turned up zilch. I will share whatever I come up with here.
edclist
I JUST NOTICED SOMETHING. The option for moving to a new house doesn't get greyed out. It's always brighter than the rest. A CLUE.
DeathlessAphroditeOriginal
I'm glad someone else is into this. I modded everything there was to mod in Oblivion, from dialog to models to landscaping, but it was a long time ago and I don't have the same amount of free time or the drive to go at it. I would really like to find a way around this though. It's not just a Lydia problem for me, I like to hear all dialogs once, but I often confuse used topics with unused ones because of these damn colors. edclist
Yeah, I really don't have the desire to mod any more but I did DL the CK so I could add some containers to my house and a few by the forge. I want to play. Theres already a mod for just about everything but to me, this issue is a design flaw and I don't understand why someone hasn't addressed it yet. If someone can point me in the right direction I'm willing to take a shot at it. I'm really loving the companion mods I DL'd but reading that dialog is really pi***ng me off. We do have a couple good clues though. The line about moving to a new house stays bright and theres one other line too that I noticed. We know it can be done. ETA: I just went and posted a request for help on this issue in the discussion threads of mods that I really like that deal with followers and expand on dialog. Those folks should have some idea on where to start.. Edited May 31, 2012 by edclist
DreamKingMods
I imagine that you need Flash, or another application capable of editing Flash files, to change the dialogue colors. The SkyUI team was asking about desired changes to the dialogue interface a few months ago, and improving the legibility was one of the things mentioned.
