Smerjel
Hey modders I modded skyrim with about 140 mods. In the end it worked just the way I wanted it to but I had to put Skyrim on the shelve for a while and now there has been happening quite a lot in this scene. My manual backup of skyrim seemed to work somewhat but complaining about mods missing etc. I had no form of backup in regards to NMM. It would have been a different matter if I could just check each mod from the NMM but windows have been cleaned too. Now I do not know how to proceed. Should I just wipe it all and start from scratch, trying for a "clean save" and all or should I try tidy up the backup somehow? If updates to mods and skyrim itself would have come to an halt at the same time as I had to quit playing (sometime before release of creation kit) it would be of another matter. Please advise, I would really like to play it the way I did, but with "todays standards/updates", so to speak. Check out my screenshot library if you are curious how it looked "back in the day" :)
David Brasher
There have been numerous reports of mods not working when Skyrim updates to a new version. If you have been away from Skyrim for three months and have 140 mods, you may have terrible problems. I recommend that you check for updates for all of your mods, do a clean save, and then slowly start activating your mods with a play-test between each activation. You may need to remove and reinstall new versions of dozens of mods. You may need to drastically overhaul your load order. You may need to give up on certain mods and not use them anymore because they don't work with the newest version of Skyrim or the mods built for the newest version of Skyrim. Hm, I suppose I need to start from scratch then. 230 hours played but meh, it was worth it. I still have the saves and have not changed "ugridstoload" so it should work out in the end. I got a folder with a bunch of the mods I used, so I guess I will just start checking off those and if there are newer versions of them. Thanks for the reply :) EDIT: Are there mods or versions of them available only on nexus or workshop only? As I prefer to use NMM I guess I should stick to nexus mods? Generally I'm looking for the most common and well produced mods like skyui, textures, weapons, arrow smith, crafting, better sorting, ENB series etc. Edited May 31, 2012 by Smerjel
