So I have been thinking about this for a while, and while playing Diablo 3 I kind of got an idea in my head to maybe use that as inspiration to make creatures from Heaven and Hell come to the world of Skyrim. The coolest thing would be to have entirely two new factions with stories that you could join, but before I get into that idea I want to talk about the very basic concept of this so I don't get ahead of myself.

I'm going to list this in parts/versions, I don't expect ANY of this to be made it's more of wishful thinking as I have no modding experience or knowledge though I'd love to learn one day. Each part will kind of be a version (the 1st being the most basic) and the last part/version of it will be the most ambitious part of this post and the least likely outcome I can see happening.

So let's get dreaming!

V 1.0: New Creatures added

This absolute basic version of the mod will add two new creatures (maybe more). One from Heaven, and one from Hell. Obviously they will be called Angels and Demons, very basic as I said this would be bare minimum I would like to see. Wether they have drops or not is really dependent on the modder, I would be happy with just a big challenge of a monster, both have physical and magical prowess. Further than that I would like there to be specific sounds for the voices of these, though I suppose using deadric voices will kind of work for the both of them, though it would be unsatisfying.

V 1.5 Summon Spells for Heaven and Hell creatures

I can't think of much more to add to it than having maybe a summon spell for these creatures, but that again would be a whole different area of modding together so lets just say that would most likely be a sort of 1.5 version of it.

V 2.0 Vast Hierarchy of creatures within Heaven and Hell

This is where I think it would take a lot of work to get something done, and where I think the kind of possible ceiling is for this mod. Taking it further than what I am about to suggest would require a good amount of time and effort even for a team of modders (imo),

After having created the new creature types, I think it would be incredible to actually have different types of them. It could be something as follows:

  1. Angels

    1. Minor
      1. Soldier (2-handed Focus)
      2. Runic (Magic Focus)
      3. Purifier (Healing Focus)

      • Major

        1. Demons

        2. Minor

          • Major

The ones listed in RED are the ones I find most likely to even be done at all. Remember I have NO modding experience so please give as much criticism as you think needed just make sure it is constructive.

            DANGER WISHFUL THINKING AHEAD!!!

V 2.3 Expansion of Hierarchy and Situated Locations/Bases

After all of V2.0 has been completed I think the next logical step would be to expand the hierarchy of both sides and give each side some small basses or forts around the world of Skyrim. First lets start with the new creature additions.

I will not outline which ones I think will or will not make it as I doubt the mod will even get to this point. However I love talking so deal with it :P.

            1. Angels

            2. Squad Leaders

              • Commanders

                • High/Faction Leaders

                  1. Demons

                  2. Squad Leaders

                    • Commanders

                      • High/Faction Leaders

                        Faction Bases:

For the first part of making these basses I think they should simply control Forts and Dungeons (not many) that have been cleared by the player. They will also obviously have roaming parties as I have shown there to be squad leaders by this point. I think this would be a great aspect as you have Heaven and Hell clashing on your doorstep. Whether the Faction Leaders would be implemented here or not is up to the modders as there are no real main bases just dungeons and you cannot take one or the others side as of yet.

V2.6-2.7 Adding Main City and Outposts/Bases for Factions

Here is where it gets very time consuming, creating cities for these places. Not just making a city but things and people to populate it would be the main challenge here. So I have a suggested route which I will now explain

                        V2.6 Forts:

This I think would be relatively easy (comparative to the what comes after) to create some small forts separate from the ones already in Skyrim. There is plenty of free space to be used in fact I think Skyrim has a little too little of diverse dungeons (which is my reason for getting bored with vanilla, the story is awesome).

I would be happy with just 1 fort per faction, and I'm sure they could easily be made to be up in the air (heaven) and below ground (hell) by use of player made portals. Maybe a portal spell scroll dropped by a squad leader or commander of each faction (if you are able to kill them).

Each for definitely should have a unique look but I will not say for sure that it would be implemented by this version though I don't see why not. Either way worst comes to worst can go ahead and use deadric stuff for both (just change the color pallet for the angels to be white and blue or some crap XP)

                        V2.65 Main Cities:

Here's where the modders will definitely need to have a set style for each faction otherwise it would be useless and silly to even go about making the cities. Also populating them with some type of race (maybe just the monsters themselves) would be required otherwise you end up with an empty city.

This is not the type of city where you can buy things at all, simply a zone for fighting everything here should be enemy towards you (yes even angels). Should be a boss at the end most likely the king of either faction. If wanted there could be a role-play element added to give each new spawn (for king) a new name, and have each Arch-Angel/Devil have unique names and powers also. Still none of this is required, just extra fluff.

                        V2.7 Bases/Outposts:

The reason I put outposts and bases after the two version above is because without the previous two this one would seem pointless (especially from a role-play perspective). These should be bases near the main cities and outpost dotted around territories of each faction.

Everything else for this has been explained multiple times I'll let your imaginations wander for whatever else you think could be included

V3.0 Storyline/Backstory to Factions (Ability to become friendly but not join):

                        Backstory:

Heaven and Hell: two opposing forces that have remained in balance since the dawn of humankind. Through rituals and religious practices, humans have tried to maintain this balance by selecting "Emissaries": individuals who would be chosen to become immortals to live within the realms of Heaven, Hell, and the mortal world to continue to maintain the ways of these realms, while having a human perspective. This would ensure order in the world of the dead, living, and supernatural.

Two Emissaries would be selected: a "Grim Reaper" for Hell and a "Gatekeeper" for Heaven. For every 500 years, these immortals would serve their posts until a new Emissary would be chosen so the viewpoints of these immortals would be in-line with the current moral standards but also so the emissaries did not become corrupt with power. In doing so, the two worlds would gain continued knowledge on how to coexist as the beliefs of world changed with the fall and rise of new civilizations. The newly selected mortals would do battle with the elder emissaries, in which the mortals must undergo a quest set by the old emissaries meant to test them in all ways. The mortal must then preform a ritual to make the old emissary mortal once again.

The Angels and Demons created a special "mark" defining those they saw had potential to dawn the power of an immortal. Both the Demonic King and the Council of Heaven would meet every new generation of man to mark those worthy. Not all would become immortal but some would be accepted into their own ranks and most likely become "Hero's" in Skyrim writing the new legends, and sometimes, though rarely, they would become Angels... or Demons.

                        Plot:

The balance has been threatened. A powerful new "Grim Reaper" has not only killed the old emissary without a sacred battle, but has also killed the mortal selected to be Gatekeeper as well as corrupting the old Gatekeeper. Now the Grim Reaper has rallied the forces of Hell, convincing their ways must reign supreme above all other beliefs. All hope to maintain the balance will be lost unless a new Gatekeeper can somehow be discovered.

Many angels have been turned, convinced they will loose the war two thirds of Heaven's forces have fallen to disgrace and are now terrorizing Skyrim along with many demons. The only hope of a new Gatekeeper being chosen is if all children born with the "mark" granting them potential to become immortal are protected and trained to become stalwart guardians of Heaven and Skyrim. Though the new Grim Reaper is strong and the Leader of the Angelic council is doubtful a mortal can rise to such unfathomable odds.

                        Features:

Here I expect to at least have the player to become knowledge about the lore going on. There will be a few very minor quests but there will not a be a questline that is for V4.

Through these quests I hope to allow the player to become "friendly" towards these factions but not actually a part of them or able to solve the problem at hand as that will not have been programmed in by this point.

I hope you guys like it so far.

V4.0 Becoming Angel/Demon King (Requires Heavy character modification, not sure if this is feasible):

                        To be imagined soon.

This looks to be epic. I'm also going to go with a rating of "well-organized." If we're lucky, this will turn out to be a fun faction questline, instead of the civil war version of factions.

Thanks man! I'm actually learning how to make models myself, and will be making a brash attempt at this in the near future! If you know anyone else who'd be interested or helpful just send them this way!

I'd offer to help, but I have no idea how to use the heavy coding I'd assume is necessary to make new factions, quests and characters, let alone voice actors and planes. Is it easy to do? *is letting his noob show*

Up to V2.0 there really isn't "heavy" scripting involved. V1-2 would pretty much be modeling, animations, ai scripts, textures(goes w/ modeling), maybe voice overs but not nessecary.

Somewhere around V2.6 and on there would need to be a bit heavier more experienced ai scripting to make functional faction bases. V3.0+ would take a lot of knowledge about how the quests in skyrim work and how the code works (therefore "heavy" scripting comes in).

I can put you on this tutorial that I am doing currently. I suggest going through it all. In just about 4-5 hrs of using these over the past 3 days I've made a chair (no textures yet but working on it) that's gotten a lot of good praise even from experienced modders.

Thanks for taking interest! If you wanna contact me more efficiently just pm me and I'll send you my e-mail bro!

Great idea's So what will the Demon king look like?

Will it be something like Diablo? Yea I asked because I was imagining Diablo being on Skyrim sometime ago and thought it would be cool.

Is it possible to add a Armageddon type event on this? just wondering...

I'm hoping to make Demon King look Unique apart from Diablo, and I have good ideas. Honestly I never really liked the look of Diablo myself.

As far as an apocalypse event, I have no idea that sounds like a scripting/animation part to me which I have no experience in (especially in Skyrim). As far as I have been told the hardest part will actually be making new creatures, few have tried it fewer have actually done it. However I'm going to contact them soon to see which way to go about it.
