greenknightfury
Yeah, good point, the suit is *everything*. I plan to have a health meter (for the suit) with the hud, but some people like to play 3rd person and this would be a great indicator. My script however didn't work worth crap, kept resetting. But I hope to be able to start modding again soon, maybe I can figure it out with some input from scripting guru's. You might want to see if you can talk to the Project Nevada guys, their "the visor/eyepiece gets banged/dinged/cracked as the item gets damaged" thing that takes effect while you have the headgear options on would fit nicely too, though from what I understand they welcome anyone doing a patch to make their armor compatible with that. Oh had a thought (since I just ran through OWB again *heh*), the Y0 facility would be really cool to actually be able to see, especially since (according to the half buried terminal just outside) it was where the Dead Money vending machines came from. If you remember those machines had a special popup when you first look at one, that mentions the coin slot was obviously a tacked on afterthought. That got me thinking that most likely the original design would have had a hopper or something connected to it, put trash (any misc. item) in the hopper and then get to make items. Of course the limits of what kind of items they might have codes to produce on the machines in the facility is totally up for grabs. *heh* And of course who knows what kind of item codes they might have scattered around the facility, or if the systems used to create new item codes still function. FalloutNINJA101
Oh had a thought (since I just ran through OWB again *heh*), the Y0 facility would be really cool to actually be able to see, especially since (according to the half buried terminal just outside) it was where the Dead Money vending machines came from. Why not have a few new types of overly abundant resources available spawn in random loot around Big MT that the Vending machines can use to craft the new items. Sort of like lead from scrap metal: things with high conversion rates so the vending resources don't deplete too fast (i.e. InstaMash potatoes shouldn't take much of anything, new weapon takes 100 lead & some uranium or new element). The Vending machines materialize it straight from a code so its not to far off to have them dematerialize the resources and store them digitally. If it would be too hard to make them manage two types of inventory, could they be changed to all draw form a central inventory? Similar in functionality to the Ammo Press in The Pitt dlc for F03? Then its clutter free for the player's inventory. Or an attached terminal on the side of every machine that still inks to the same resource deposit. Some way could we incorporate a cloning device? It might be cool to have a player character follower, if his/her stats could change with your's it would be much cooler. Also, the Gene Splicing lab needs to have a code for a cyberdog/nighstalker hybrid. Just an after thought. devinpatterson
Sorry, for the late response, Christmas insanity is in full swing. I'll definitely address your guys's posts soon and I really appreciate your guys help with ideas. But just so I don't forget; it would be interesting to add a mobile (self contained projector) holographic being (or beings), whether as enemies or a companion. Something akin to rimmer's hardlight body in red dwarf. Something like this (pic); http://i1066.photobucket.com/albums/u404/devinlpatterson/HardlightHolo_zpsa81a9e2d.jpg

And Merry Christmas everyone!
devinpatterson
Have the weekend off so I will definitely find time to contribute and respond to teh thread (and new ideas submitted). But I just wanted to make a quick blurb before I forgot about it. Would anyone be interested in a lobotomite mask that performs the same function as the ghoul mask did in FO3? The lobotomites are pretty much mindless bullet sponges and I thought it might be cool to be able to walk among them unmolested. Any way we could make a weapon that spawns or deploys the hologram so we can put him away and don't have to track him down to have a companion again? And Merry Christmas everyone! I think so. By using a token it could be added to your inventory. Red dwarf used a "light bee", a small (about the size of a child's fist) holographic projector that flies around inside the holographic image projecting it. It could be pocketed. I was thinking of creating something similar to help balance the mobile holograms (photonic AI's). Essentially I'd use a eyebot model with the dead money holo projector (I like the looks of them) as a sort of light bee. The balance could come in a few different forms. Since the light bee isn't plugged into teh, wall like a DM holo projector it has limited power and that could be a disadvantage. Perhaps taking damage subtracts energy from the projectors batteries adn energy cells must be supplied to recharge the light bee. The result would be that after the battery is depleted yuor left with a flying projector that can be destroyed. There are other ways that could limit it's invulnerability (whether as a opponent or as a companion). Perhaps some hits have a small chance to injure the light bee. greenknightfury
Love Red Dwarf! I laughed so hard when Voyager ripped the idea of the light-bee off with the Doctor's Borg made device that let him go anywhere. The idea of using energy cells (with perhaps the option of modding it to accept microfusion cells with high enough science and repair skill, allowing it to absorb more hits before being exhausted) is great. As to further limiting it's invulnerability...I'd suggest that leaving the bot effect of being vulnerable to weapons that do EMP damage effects would be a good way to do it. darkus37
Hey, I had this weird idea - how about a Tron homage? Specifically, the player gets called to the Think Tank because of some computer problems and gets digitized into the Big MT Mainframe. They would then explore Big MT while fighting off a virus attacking the mainframe (like Operation: Anchorage). This scenario allows for photonic companions (i.e. hack the system for goodies) and allow the seeing of Big MT before it blew off the top of the mountain. Successfully helping the mainframe in the "virtual" world will unlock areas in the "real" world.

For some reason this doesn't suggest "Tron" to my brain (not sure why love the movie and it was my first thought watching The Matrix), but it does start the "Superhuman Samurai Syber Squad" theme playing in my head; with a side order of the Megaman games/cartoon where they kept doing things like that. ZackieSon
Does anyone remember Dr. Hildern at Camp McCarren? what if his group the OSI, a large group of scientists, come to the Big empty to restore it. That would expand it by finding out its past to restore it for the future. New areas could be made to explore that the scientist have located. The scientists collaborate with the think tank. Sounds cool and would expand OWB a lot!
theDemonJackal
Zackie's Idea is pretty good but Id go one step further and say that members of the Commonwealth and OSI want the technology of the Big MT now that its open and are currently going for an all out war against each other. And the Think Tank just want to be left alone in their research. The OSI dont see a point in keeping this great technology in the hands of men who have lost their minds, while the common wealth see them as abominations against the world. Basically your a man against two armys.
