devinpatterson
Definitely liking the Lobotomite Hippie community idea. It's fun stuff with a lot of crazy owb potential and a treasure trove of cultural references. It'll have a good mix of ghoul former prisoners, lobotomites and (if it doesn't stretch lore too much) maybe even some of the original hippie protesters "experimentees"/patients. But considering how crazy some of the OWB experiments could be (so your saying you can emit plasma from your cerebellum? or you can control butterflies though a psi emmiter/projector gland, etc) it may not be out of the realm of possibility they lived for over two centuries. Lots of creative opportunities. We have a lot of area/space to work in when the radar fence goes down (another 50%, maybe more). So I'll put together some robot factories where they produce the various "Mark" series. The protectron one will have demo's of the other custom protectrons that I'm using in my mods (sunset, nuka, nuky etc) but won't be particularly interesting beyond a little eye candy and a possible companion or two. But one robot local I'm really stoked about is the brainbot complex/factory. I think there is a *lot* we can do with the robobrains, that rises far and above simply creating a home for the various "mark" series. I have new models for the Mark series (one brain, two brain and three brain models PIC;http://i1066.photobucket.com/albums/u404/devinlpatterson/FONV%20Mods-works%20in%20progress/robobrain1_zps073932d3.jpg We can maybe detail notes about the escape and (somewhat) self actualization of "Super-Ego" (before his unfortunate demise at the couriers hands) etc. But expanding on existing content is really just the tip of the iceberg. What will be really fun will be expanding and detailing the personalities of the various brain bots. They have a huge amount of potential being both mechanical and organic beings with that pre-existing schitzo affectation that sets them apart from all fallout robots in the base game. Not to mention some memorable companions. All those lobotomized brains have been going somewhere after all  So throw some of that patented creativity that you used to make the sunset mod really shine, and go wild. devinpatterson
I like that idea. You should also take into account the divergence, have them talking about the environmental effects of the hardened plastics that are used militarily in the Fallout universe or something. You know....if we're going to hit the environmental impact effects of teh fallout tech, the riches vein would be radioactivity/nukes. Nuclear protests were a huge theme of the 60's and just about everything in fallout is or has a nuclear version, even a nuclear powered lawn mower. Another one is of course the military industrial complex. theDemonJackal
Send me some of the Hippy Ghouls lines you would like me to record and I'll get to work.  Now, time to put in some creative contribution. 1. Companions. Labotomite companions would be fun, but how long before brainless groans become annoying or boring. So I propose a different kind of Lobotomite companion. Recently I was watching a movie called the Man with the screaming brain (staring the man with the Chin, Bruce Campbell), and it had a very interesting plot though was not a very good movie. The brains of a Russian taxi driver and a wealthy businessman are brought together in one body by a mad scientist. (IMDB) Now, you tell me you wouldnt want to hang around with a failed Labotomite Experiment that had half the brain of a FOA scientest and half the brain of a Jericho like raider? Be fun to talk to as well as have a guy talking to himself while your wandering the wasteland. "f*#@ you! I aint carrying your shi-eeeh...anything I can do to help.""Interesting...the metal on the shelling seems to suggest its-aaaa A hunk of junk." Now while I am aware that this sounds farfetched...can we all remember just how whacky OWB is?  Robots is another idea...but honestly I think with all the robot companions out there, maybe a robot companion should be shelved unless it can be made interesting. Like Blade runner Androids Interesting.  Mutants! Now we are talking. I am not talking about Supermutants, I am talking about mutants...a sub-species if you will of people. While I have already suggested Mole people(because lets face it why wasnt there molerat people? Mole People is such a sci-fi cliche that it would be funny), I think a group of semi/average intellgent mutant beings would be fun to see. Maybe a Geecko man(skin and eyes of a geecko), or a bearded woman (hey why not? If your gonna do science start with the simple things), or just a group of (realistically...No more nose then face things) wierd looking people.  2. Weapons.I want exploding Lemons....There I said it. I want to throw explosive lemons at life when it gives me lemons. Go Cave johnson on their asses! In fact, Fruit/Veg Grenades (I cannot tell you how big my smile is right now at saying that). Actually Keep that nosey doctor away with some exploding apples! Spider drone Bombs. Anybody ever play C-12 for Playstation? Well there is like this plasma arm blade in it that I think would make some excellent weaponry for OWB
greenknightfury
Ideas for some unique robobrain personalities eh? Well I've got a couple that popped into my head soon as I read that. Twitch: Twitch was an odd one; a weak, nerdy hacker type, and a fiend. He got razed but not messed with too badly by the other fiends, since he kept their energy weapons firing and the cool stuff in the Vault running. He also got to get out and do some safe exploring and scaving with a group of other Fiends as bodyguards to go hunting for tech they could use. When he heard about Big MT. and that "it's full of Old World tech..." he stopped listening and went running to set up a run for tech there before the "...and almost nobody get's out alive." part could even be said.  The team didn't make it of course, they got caught and only Twitch and the head of the team with him, Scorch, survived the fight. Twitch doesn't mind that he woke up a Robobrain, it's tougher than his old body and he thinks it's pretty cool, luckily his drugs of choice (Mentats and Jet) seem to be easy to find/make and he tinkered with his and Scorch's bodies so they have chem dispensers feeding them their favorite chems. He loves working with tech and tinkering with all the weird stuff that they find here, and really doesn't care if he ever leaves.  Scorch: Head of the team sent out with Twitch to go "shopping" by Motor Runner, Scorch is a pyro that loves to take the least excuse to let rip with any weapon that uses fire, even if he isn't hitting anything with it. He was really mad at first to be a robot, but a few quick tinkerings by Twitch replaced his bodies laser weapon with a flame thrower (he swapped out some parts from a Gutsy) (no need to have actual added parts there just have him shoot fire instead of the laser from the claw, though a big flamer tank added to his back would be a great touch) and adding a chem dispenser (Jet and Psycho) made him happy enough. Especially when he figured out he was a lot harder to hurt and fireproof. Loves to see fire in any form and is happy to sit watching a bonfire as he is torching enemies, but very willing to "Roast some marshmallows", which is what he calls anyone he considers weak or a goody two shoes. devinpatterson
Send me some of the Hippy Ghouls lines you would like me to record and I'll get to work. I'm afraid we're a ways off from lines, although iconic 60's catch phrases (goovy, far out etc) and some modern stuff would probably be fair game ( the double rainbow guy, soybomb etc). Since they wouldnt' be actual dialog just barks. 1. Companions. Labotomite companions would be fun, but how long before brainless groans become annoying or boring. So I propose a different kind of Lobotomite companion. Although sort lived can still be interesting. One lobotomite easter egg companion is based the original star trek episode "spock's brain". A unusual looking and powerful lobotomite that would obey commands if the player had a specific control box. It won't be long lived, but it's easy to do and follows the FO tradition of pop cultural references. Recently I was watching a movie called the Man with the screaming brain (staring the man with the Chin, Bruce Campbell), OK I'll check it out, anything with Bruce Campbell is usually worth a look (even if it's just to see what kind of train wreck your talking about). Now, you tell me you wouldnt want to hang around with a failed Labotomite Experiment that had half the brain of a FOA scientest and half the brain of a Jericho like raider? Be fun to talk to as well as have a guy talking to himself while your wandering the wasteland. I think we might be better keeping the two and three mixed personalities for the new robobrain models. Type III and above have more than one lump of gray mass in there (for example have the three brains betting Quatloos on who kills the courier, along with each brain glowing a different color). Robots is another idea...but honestly I think with all the robot companions out there, maybe a robot companion should be shelved unless it can be made interesting. Like Blade runner Androids Interesting. Oh I think we can put a ton of interesting ideas in regard to teh bots. They have several unique advantages (if we're talking the brain bots). They can have pre-war or post war brains, they can have a mix of several personalities, they can be scientists, wastelanders, sunsets peeps or the chinese prisoners. Lots and lots of of stuff to work on. Once the C.O.D.E programming is broken/overridden (and something as simple as time or as complicated as the result of new programming or experiment could do that) you can have their full minds emerge. devinpatterson
Ooops not sunsets peeps, I meant sunflowers peeps (the hippies were used for experiments, much like the chinese prisoners, so some may be robobrains).
