Critical error after after a allmsot set gametime.

I suffer from a fatal problem, Oblivon crashes/fatal error/or whatever you will call it. It is more than annoying.

I start Oblivion and it runs completely normal, after 19-26 minuttes it will crash with a black screen and Num Lock will react for about 10 seconds. After that time, the looping music stops and my PC crashes and restarts instantely.

It happens in both Windowed and Fullscreen modus BTW

It ran completely perfect before without any error, i recently reinstalled it cleanly after completely killing it with mods a few days ago. Then i killed it again by leaving the INI file behind, then i screwd over the default files, then i reistalled it clean again and removed all settings and files. And after that i reinstalled some mods :P

My PC stats:

MS Windows XP SP2

Intel Pentium 4 CPU 3.00GHz, 1GB ram, Radeon 9800 Pro.

(gotten from CCleaner)

My mods:

I downloaded Streamline to and disabled the saves(annoying), and it just had no effect exepect it seemed like the crash happend later.

I also downloaded the Unofficial Oblivon AFTER the crash issues had happend a few time.

Help please!

What it might be, if unlikely is that you end up filling all the available ram after 20 minutes of actual playing, and as a result the game crashes. You should probably disable any unnecessary programs running in the background, and disable any mods which aren't necessary for play to see if it takes longer before you crash.

If that isn't it, it would have to be due to some mod which was not setup or made properly, in which case you may need to go through one by one testing them. Although this sort of problem would be easier to notice since it would happen near the same place, and saving 10 minutes in, quitting, then loading that save, would usually mean 10 minutes before crash, there may be some scripts which have components which get reset after a save is loaded.

You should also make sure OBSE is installed correctly, and maybe even considder not using streamline since it tends to make adjustments to .ini settings which may create some instability in the game which can compound with instabilities created by other mods.

You might want to consider installing another 1 GB RAM. Uber-games such as Oblivion run better with 2 GB installed.

I also noticed you posted "XP SP2" for your OS.

XP SP3 is posted on Microsoft Update. At some point, Microsoft will stop making any fixes for SP2 (they have nixed SP1 already). If you don't have SP3, then you're behind on current security patches.

A great many critical files were rewritten when I installed SP3.

hm what settings are you running it on?

AA 2x, high view distance of grass and items. Fullscreen mod, using my default screen resolution(1280xsometing).

It runned completely fine with 1GB ram, and i do not feel like upgrading yet. I will get a new PC some time later instead.

The updates for SP3 is soo little its not even worth it. So long my system does not have any critical errors i do not need an update, i will not even both with SP3. As said on somebody else on another forum: "SP3 had soo little improvements from SP2, so i did not install it." Beside it bugged up my PC last time i attempted to install too.

Oh comeon, i NEED those mods...... I got the idea of it being a load list problem, but my OBSE conflict detector does not find anything major. The load list is set so the changes do not override each other in the wrong way. I need help of exactly what mod. I runned most of it before, and it worked fine.

So then you got any idea who of the mods is screwing the game completely over? :(

1. I had errors with OBSE before i figured out how to run it properly, not doing the same mistake twice.

2. Streamline helps me PC :( It is a sad fact.

If I knew what particular mod is causing the problem, I would tell you. The fact of the matter is is that it isn't clear what is causing the problem since the mods you use are different from what others use, and such. It could either be your RAM filling up, or a bad mod, or something just screwed up within that game. Without doing what is suggested, there's no way to determine if one of those is more likely the reason than any other.

I started off with a suggestion based on RAM since it isn't hard to fill up one GB of ram just between the game and windows, without anything else happening. And Oblivion is notorious for ram problems. The only way to test this is to lower the amount of loaded mods and active background processes, or just buy more memory.
