aaronjreeves
Hello! So i was using DA's companion Feria (who is a custom race: "Necs mystic high elf remake") and i decided i wanted her to have a few more spells. So easy enough right? Just open her up in CS and add some spells? Not so much... Just to open her correctly i need oblivion.esm + cmcompanion.esm + cmcompanion.esp + DAFeria.esp + Nec'smysticHighElf-Remake.esp which for some reason makes a million little pop ups come up when i open her saying "blah blah is not a unique file, will be renamed blah blah-DUPLICATE. SO whatever, i go in, find her and add the spells, then change her to be a static level instead of a dynamic level (I made her 25 with high stats) . then save the esp and activate it in the data thing ont he oblivion launcher. So thinking im all ready to go i hop on the game and go tto the leyawiin mages guild to get her and.... Shes not there!!!!!! Any idea as to why she wouldnt be there even though I didnt change a single thing but spells and level??? ALso ive tried putting her somewhere else but when i load the area it crashes to desktop...... any idea?
HouseAtlantic
I've done this dozens of times with these mods.. why would you load all those esp s?just check the oblivion esm and the companion's esp you wish to change and the rest should check themselves off if needed when you launch them in the cs.. I'm surprised your entire esp for the companion was not erased by the way you did this. you only need oblivion's esm, the CM esm and the esp you wish to change. who launches two esp? I'm joking, but seriously, you shouldn't. I would reinstall the esp of those mods that you did this with, just to avoid the possibility that some problem will occur from it.if after all you have problems with them attacking you, for being caught in a crime, pm me and i can help. I don't bit as hard in messages
aaronjreeves
Nice name, I love coheed and cambria (I assume thats where you got it from) I actually got it to work like this by making the DAcharacter.esp my active. And if the character im trying to edit is a custom race dont i need to open the custom race esp as well to keep my companion from being reset to a defalt race? But now that i think about it, it makes sense seeing how it kept saying everything was a duplicate... it was already loading what it needed via the character esp and me opening the race esp made "duplicates" no problems as of yet of me messing up my esp's... havent reinstalled em yet but i will if i get a issue I had a question, can i edit my partners while thier with me without messing up their equipment? Whenever i got this to work they were reset to their default location (in this case leyawiin mages guild) with the default equipment. maybe like a 1st 2nd 3rd step type thing. I thought just opening the esp, finding the npc in the list, opening em up and changing the values would be it if the esp of the character was the active file but maybe theres another step. thanks for the help
HouseAtlantic
Yep, it's from coheed and cambria  the race is recreated in the partner esp, although you need the race's textures and so fourth, loading those two esp and saving even if you had made no changes will result in you having to reinstall the esp. if you're not using the race as your main actor, then no sense in having the race's esp checked in your loading order, slight chance you may not need the playable race esp even if this is your main character's race. anyway, you've got the process correct, you're just loading unnecessary esp with the partners one. you cannot change anything about your partners in-game, besides what they wear or weapons they use. you can only change their hair, eyes, facial structure and detailed things like that in the cs. you'll notice that loading only the partner's esp and the oblivion esm will get rid of the duplicate warnings.. if they persist then I would reinstall the esp and you're the eighth person I've found who even knows who co&ca is  doesn't sound like a lot, but, a few are very high ranking members of this community
