jle30303
Are there any plans to make Qaxe's Questorium available through the in-game Bethesda mod-management interface? I can't find it anywhere, but it seems like a fun one to install, but right now it seems that I have to install at least one or two third-party mod management tools to install it.Right now, the only other mods I have, or am considering installing, and have all installed through that interface, are: - Unofficial SSE Patch. - Quest markers for Stones of Barenziah. - Repeating quests = Miscellaneous rather than full quests. - Better Horses(The above, all look to be compatible with pretty much everything.) - Become a Bard - The Paarthurnax Dilemma (apparently a way of resolving the Blades / Greybeards arguments over whether to spare Paarthurnax)(Neither of these seem to conflict with QQ.) - Open Civil War SSE (looks to be the most faithful "restoring cut-content" mod for the Civil War - Moonlight Tales (better werewolves, skills and perks)Again, neither looks incompatible with QQ. EXCEPT, Open Civil War might be problematic because it includes a potential city battle for Winterhold that may conflict with the expanded / repaired city. - Underhearth: A Winterhold Home. This might conflict with QQ, because QQ includes a Winterhold-rebuilding mod which might rebuild the ruined house near where the trapdoor entrance to the underground "home" is found. On the other hand, it might not conflict at all, since the trapdoor entrance is outside, and its other entrance is in Journeymans Nook, and both are key-locked with a key only to be found in Journeymans Nook, and these entrances are the only points at which it interacts with the main Skyrim world. Still, if it's incompatible I'll be quite happy to remove one Winterhold home (which is small, functional and just an area with no new NPCs or interactions) in favour of another (which comes with the expanded town and, if I read the mod readme correctly, a housecarl as well.)I assume all the above mods, available through the Bethesda interface, are also available on Nexusmods, if I want to use just one method of managing and installing mods? And which mod manager should I use, and how do I use it?Advice please, *for the non technically minded person*. Please try to avoid unexplained acronyms or potentially confusing technical terminology. I'm not one of these 500-mods-at-once modders, I'm more of a half-a-dozen-mods type. WastelandAssassin
the Bethesda interface is for mods uploaded to Bethesda.netso if you want to inquire about a mod being uploaded there , you should contact the mod author of the mod in question (before you do that , please read their mod descriptions , they often say if they have plans to do so , or if they are against it . it helps not to annoy a mod author with something they state they have no intention of doing) you can easily use the search function on the appropriate Nexus site (in this case , the SSE site) to try and find mods . it's especially easy as you already know their names , so you really just need to input one of the keywords and you should find them if they are posted here . and most mods that you can find on Bethesda.net were posted here first (pretty sure every mod you mentioned is here)and you should check their pages here or on Bethesda.net for questions regarding compatibility , as that is where you'll find such answers (usually in the description , maybe in a sticky post or an article , depends on the mod in question) as for mod managers , the simplest to use is NMM or Nexus Mod Manager . you can find it here https://www.nexusmods.com/site/mods/4 (though if you notice at the end of the description is a link to a GitHUB page , that is where the actual latest version of NMM is , as the development team moved to that site)and while it is a very functional mod manager , I would personally recommend MO2 or Mod Organizer 2 (https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/6194) . it is more difficult to learn initially , but it has more functions so it's better for a more advanced userthere is also Vortex (https://www.nexusmods.com/site/mods/1) which is still in development , and I've yet to use it (I'm personally waiting for a more stable release before I'll try it , and I'm currently very comfortable with MO2)all of these mod managers have written and video tutorials around , you should easily find ones that work for you . personally I really recommend Gopher (https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC1CSCMwaDubQ4rcYCpX40Eg) , his tutorials are very slow and very in depth , so it gives a very nice learning experience which is very easy to follow (you may even feel the need to put the video on a higher speed) . there are several other great channels for tutorials , but I suggest trying Gopher out I hope that this wall of text isn't as frightening as it may seem , as well as answering your questions in an appropriate mannerif you have any more questions , you are of course free to ask , I'm sure that either myself of some of the other wonderful members of this community will be able to answer them
jle30303
Thanks. On the above, it looks like NMM is the most easy-to-use mod manager, which is a major factor in my decision... I have read that it hasn't had an update for a couple of years except for a couple of security updates, but hey, that's actually all right with me, there really should come a time when something is regarded as "done", software shouldn't really be always under constant change, there needs to be a point of stability somewhere, as long as it WORKS.(And likewise, mods that are "no longer being updated" are fine if it means that nothing more NEEDS to be done to them. As opposed to ones that are "abandoned" unfinished.)The reason I asked here is that I can't find a "contact author" link on the mod's own page (whether through my own ignorance or whether it's deliberate) so I don't know how I can ask him directly. However, the most recent update of the mod appears to be 6 August, so I assume he is active...? [EDIT] I think I found the author... WastelandAssassin
I don't know where you've read that NMM hasn't been updated in years , but that is a complete liethere is still a very active team maintaining NMM on the GItHUB page I mentioned , and you should be able to see their update history there . it's still being updated to find an author , all you need to do is to go to the mod's page on the Nexus , and at the top you should see quite a lot of information . one of these fields is Uploaded By , and it should have a the uploader's name as a link that will send you to their Nexus profile page . note that the uploader isn't necessarily the creator of the mod , which is sometimes the case when mods are ported or in other circumstances . but in most cases the uploader is the mod author as well , so they are the authority to talk toas for contacting authors , when you go into their Nexus profile (as opposed to their forum profile , as these are visually different and show different information) , at the top you should see a few buttons that you can click on . one of them should be Contact , and it has an envelope on it . this is the PM button , so clicking on it will allow you to send a private message to the userif you are looking at their forum profile , there is a button send me a message with an open envelope on it , that basically does the same thing (though that one doesn't give you the full messaging interface , which is why I personally prefer going through the Nexus profile) do note that in the case of Qaxe's Questorium there is no Posts section , so you cannot leave a comment and receive help that way . however most mods have an open Posts section , and you should endeavor to first leave a comment with your question or request , before going the PM route . it's useful because other users can also answer your question , and it's less bothersome to the mod author
jle30303
Thanks. I would have left the message in Comments, but as you say, there wasn't a comments section, however I think I was able to send a message to the right person. And have got hold of, and downloaded, NMM - now to see how well I can get the hang of working with it...
jle30303
Well, I got an answer (with reasons) as to why his mods aren't available in-game or through Bethesda - they modify some things that Bethesda won't host, because they include significant resources outside of .esp files. I think I can understand that reasoning. (I presume this is why one has to use a NexusMods manager for many mods hosted here, and why it would be incompatible with Bethesda's own mod manager.)What he couldn't answer - because he said he generally doesn't use other mods besides his own - is whether there are compatibility issues between it and other mods. With particular reference to, for instance, the "Restore Winterhold" component" and various Civil War mods that actually interact with the cities and have battles in them, such as "Open Civil War SSE" which appears to be the most comprehensive of the "restored cut-content civil war overhaul" mods.So I'll have to ask: Does anybody else have any relevant experience with instances of this type - mods that expand or develop a city, compared with mods that move a Civil War battle to that city (and thus may have to interact with the revised version rather than original version of the city)?
