Brenthor
Hello, I just bought Skyrim and installed it through Steam. I downloaded the Nexus Mod Manager and a bunch of mods from your site. I used the mod manager to 'activate' them all but then loaded up my game and realized none of them worked. I exited the game and checked the 'Data Files' option in the Skyrim Launcher and it was completely empty. How do I activate the mods, or get them to show up in the Data Files so that I can select them. I am running windows 7. Thanks.
kevkiev
go to your skyrimprefs.ini file (in My Documents/ My Games/ Skyrim) and make sure the following line appears under the "[Launcher]" section: bEnableFileSelection=1 i.e. make sure it's set to one and not zero. If it's not there at all, copy and paste it in

Brenthor
Unfortunately those suggestions didn't work. I've decided to delete all mods, NMM, Skyrim and Steam and all the folders in my Windows Explorer in attempt to start fresh. I will post my results once I have them. I don;t really know what else to try. I have access to the 'Data Files' tab in the launcher it's just totally empty. The Skyrim.esm file isn't even there. I figure there must have been a corruption somewehere or maybe the NMM wasn;t communicated properly. I am fairly new to mods. The last game I modded was Oblivion, hahaha. Thanks for the help, though, guys.
alister3215
just recently installed game myself and have a lot of mods anyways my data files was greyed out as well and i have nmm installed Skyrim.esm and Update.esm are both checked however the same as the other person data files contains nothing at all i guess i havent tried the mods yet however i half wondered if the greyed out data options was going to cause me complications so anyone else can shed some light on this i would appreciate if you end up fixing your problem let me no the solution i came across another post that had a few other things suggested that needed to be turned on besides just bEnableFileSelection=1 so after i locate that file ill update this my user account control was already turned off and my game isnt installed under program files anyways running as administrator didnt change much Brenthor maybe the mods your using arnt compatible with the latest patch your using you need to check mods for this information and ive seen its possible to get mods working ticked with nmm and not data files but im still curious why nothing shows up in data files after using bEnableFileSelection=1 and under launcher put all this on over whats already there bEnableFileSelection=1bShowAllResolutions=1uLastAspectRatio=3bLoadLooseFiles=1 Edited June 2, 2012 by alister3215
Brenthor
So I re-installed everything and it all works fine now. I did manage to figure out the problem, though because a friend of mine had the same thing happen. Apparent;y when I set up NMM I didn't set the install info to the proper folder (The steamapps one) and That's what was giving me my problems.
