Support: Skyrim, freezes, locksup, & CTD's randomly

Hello all,

 

So recently I've begun to have a lot of issues with Skyrim. Randomly, its locking up, freezing, and even CTD's. One thing I've noticed with the locking up and freezes, as I ctrl+alt+dlt and get the windows manager up, I can see only 1.2 to 1.5 gigs of memory is being used when I have 8GB available. Any and all mods I've installed from when this has begun have been turned off or uninstalled. As for the CTD's, its completely random and I have not found any common factor that might be causing it.

 

Here are my system specs:

Windows 7 Home Premium

AMD Phenom II x4 980 3.7 GHz

8GB Ram

64 bit operating system

NVIDIA GeForce GTX 580

I am having the same problem, and it has just recently started. I have tried everything I can think of, but nothing works. I'm thinking I'm going to have to do a complete uninstall and start all over, which I really don't want to do, but it's getting bad. The thing that happens most for me is a total freeze, usually outdoors, where I have to use task manager to shut down Skyrim because it is "not responding". Occasionally I have to do the same thing when trying to load a save, and every once in a while a complete CTD. It's extremely frustrating, I have a strong machine that should not be having these issues. It happens on existing characters and brand new ones just the same. If anyone can shed any light on this, I would be eternally grateful.

I am having similar issues with world models such as the building for the riverwood trader not loading/being invisible, and then my game freezing or crashing shortly afterward, and often when I enter combat.

 

It maybe helpful to post what settings are in the ini and what mods are installed to see if there is a common thread between our mod loadouts.

I have updated my ini within recommended guildlines but Ugrids is at the default of 5.

 

Skyrim version 1.6 with SKSE 1.5.8

I'm also having the exact same problems as you guys.

In fact i was playing Skyrim not 10 minutes ago before it froze and i had to end it for "not responding". These problems happen occassionally, but when they start to happen they'll occur more often (at least for me they do), I'll be playing and it will randomly freeze (outdoors mostly) and every once in a while it will just CTD. Just two or three weeks ago it would CTD every couple of minutes, but i was also running around 50 active mods. Since then I only use around 5 to 6 mods including the Official High Res texture - which I've pondered about being the problem.

The freezes and CTDs are very annoying, and I'm pretty sure my system is powerful enough to run Skyrim flawlessly, Which i was able to do the first couple of times I played (before i acquired any mods). I'm not sure if it is the mods or the game itself, but I would love to see a solution to this reoccurring problem.

1.6 is without a doubt causing freezes, even I am getting them.

 

Removing both official HighRes packs should reduce the freezing, however. That includes the .esps as well.
