DasumiancoSE
hi there i was wondering if i could have some help choosing a new graphics card to run a heavily (graphically) modded SSE around 60fps..First of all I'll start with my current system specs I7-7700KROG STRIX Z270H GAMING motherboard Printing 16GB Corsair 3000MHz Ram (will be adding another 16GB)Samsung 750 EVO SSD 500GbPNY GeForce GTX 1050 Ti 4GB the cards arn't stated as SLI capable on either Nvidia or PNY's spec pages but HWinfo is showing the card as SLI capable.. (would this be a cheap option?) I'm also looking at a few 8Gb 1080's on Amazon but the base clock speeds are ranging from 300-412 more than the 1050's for 3/4 times the price of the PNY card at 1290Mhz. Any help would be appreciated
Deleted3423134User
There's some new GTX cards coming out over the next few months. SLI really isn't as good as it's supposed to be, so I'd just get a 2060 or 2070 if you can afford, or a cut-price 1060 or 1070. The latter does do a decent 1-2K ultra that's usually 60fps on a 1440p monitor.
Deleted3897072User
It all depends on what monitor resolution you plan to run. At 1080p, my GTX 1060/6GB can run SSE on ultra at a flat 60fps at about 30% gpu load. Push that to 1440p and you double the pixels and that's roughly double the GPU load so it might begin to get warm (I haven't tried).
QuagaarWarrior
I personally wouldnt do SLI. I think something that could limit you on a heavily modded set up could be your 4gb VRAM. If you go SLI you only have access to one set of 4gb. You do not get 8gb

You do not get 8gbto be honest i was looking at the Sli option more as to improve frame rate than reduce the mod load on the GPU. The 1050ti in it now has dropped from 57fps (on Ultra) to 40/42 with only the ENB installed Edited August 19, 2018 by DasumiancoSE
jones177
Hi Skyrim SE does not like SLI. It is the reason I replaced my 2X GTX 980 tis with a single GTX 1080 ti. Vanilla SE uses over 4gbs vram(4.8gbs). The game modded plays best with 8 or more. For 4k resolution with ENB/Reshade running at 60fps a GTX 1080 ti is minimum. For frame rate in the 40s a GTX 980 ti or a GTX 1070 will do. I prefer playing Skyrim SE at 3440 X 1440 widescreen. For that resolution a GTX 1080 is minimum if ENB/Reshade is used. Skyrim/Skyrim SE with ENB are much harder to run than vanilla games. For 1080 resolution a GTX 1060 6gb is fine even using ENB. For 2560 x 1440 with ENB you need a GTX 1070 to maintain 60fps. Since Skyrim SE has inherited some of Fallout 4 flaws it is not a good 1080 game. Fallout 4 and Skyrim SE have terrible anti aliasing. The games look much better with it off. At 2560 x 1440 there is enough vertical pixels to leave AA off making the game look really good. Also DSR is really bad as well. In my tests with this game no AA looks better than 4x DSR.
