KageTempest
Ok, so Nord are like Heavy Norse / Swedish accents That one is obvious, but the others??? Hello, I am a writer for a mod that may be coming out sometime in the forseeable future. In writing the story of the mod, I've come across a brick wall of sorts. A few of the NPCs I've created are Khajiits and Argonians and I realized, I don't know how they are supposed to "sound" or what their speaking conventions are. I realize like any ethnic group, if you grow up in a culture that deviates from the norm of your ethnic heritage you will most likely sound like the people you grow up with and the like. But for MY Khajiit and Argonians, I want them to sound exotic and different. I want them to be distinct in voice and mannerisms than "Just another npc." From what I gleaned from observing Kharjo and Mai'q the Liar, Khajiits that talk like them refer to things only in the third person. But it has to be more complex than that. Does anyone have a good resource? As for Argonians.... I've been told to be extremely precise in grammar or something, but I'm not sure how reliable that information is. If anyone can shed some light on this, please do!
KageTempest
Bump. I seriously need some advice on this issue. If you don't know, any direction as to where I can find my information will be helpful. Thank you.
ResolveThatChord
Yes, Khajiit have an interesting way of talking. Generally they speak in the third person, and use expressions from their native language, Ta'agra. The word "Khajiit" means "One who walks in the desert" which is incidentally also the meaning of "Arab", so a lot of modders assign design elements of Islamic cultures to them. I'm not really sure where their dialect is based on, but if you speak in the third person, put a little growl in your voice, and use Ta'agra expressions you should probably be fine. It might also be worth reading the Khajiit dialogue from other games; I'm pretty sure much is avaliable online. The UESP has worthwhile info on them, also the Imperial Library is an excellent repository of lore knowledge.
gasti89
I think the best way to express khajiit's way of talking is the marked "rrrrrr". At least is how i personally distinguish khajiit voices from other voices. Replacing the american/english "curved" R with a more feline one would do some of the work. Hope you understand this, i'm not native english and it's hard to explain these things :D
