Is the Texture Optimisation Project going to help...

Okay, well, I reverted to an unmodded version of FO4 to test the frame rate and GPU load and I got a similar issue but just with less of a frame rate drop.

payl0ad suggested taking it to the troubleshooting forum, but, what I did prior to that was run a general search for this issue and no one seems to know what the solution is. There's so much confusion and informational white noise surrounding this that I've reached the conclusion that, as long as I'm getting good performance with vanilla settings then I'm just going to avoid mods with larger graphical loads and let the problem remain unsolved.

Furthermore, generally speaking, I don't have great health and spending time and energy tracking this problem to an ultimately unsatisfactory conclusion is, unfortunately, for me, a recipe for burnout and collapse. So, not just because of the time involved, it's not something I can afford to pursue

Amongst some of the more interesting suggestions among those I found were checking the PSU had an adequate power rating (I used a calculator and my 650watt EVGA Platinum Supernova has more than enough) and the suggestion that Windows Task manager doesn't add boost values into the calculation for the performance graph, which would suggest the GPU is still being bottlenecked by the CPU (I ran a search to try and verify this and found the most common problem posted associated with CPU Boost and Task Manager is that Task Manager displays values exceeding 100% because of CPU Boost).

I'd like to just chalk it down to a CPU bottleneck on the single core, with the extra load not being reported by Task Manager due to its not taking CPU Boost into account when calculating load, but that's a large conclusion to arbitrarily jump to.

Moreover, my CPU is an i7 4790k and I'm guessing I should be getting more than 22 to 24fps north of Goodneighbor with the only graphical upgrades installed being NAC & NAC Enhancer?

In short, this is a problem that's beyond my ability to solve, despite help from the internet, so...I'm just going to chalk it down to experience and move on to playing the game without mods that effect the graphics.

Thanks anyway to those who offered help and thanks so much to payl0oad. I'm going to uninstall NAC and NAC Enhancer and stick with the Vanilla Textures.

I havent read the entire thread, but PsyOp textures are a great alternative. I also used NAC with TOP for a long time, but wanted to try for better performance because i have a decently low end pc.

PsyOp Textures has 3 different quality levels and replaces all of the original BA2s.i use the medium versions,(along with mod fallout enhanced color correction)my performance increased, and seems to look better.
