More tasks/jobs mods (ex.harvest moon farms mod)

I'm interested in expanding oblivion by adding whole new worlds or even just new areas. One of the ideas I'm working on though little by little as I am just learning to make mods, is creating a harvest valley mod based on harvest moon. I'm going to try and figure out how to script a farm so that we could make many vegetables, food, seed mods for it. Plus do other jobs like being a cook at the local restaurant, entering horse races, etc.

 

I have a few more ideas not having to do with this particular subject or doing little with it. Like finding a way to bring horses or other mounts into battle easier, or leading an army of companions against a distroyable town, or find a quest going jousting from town to town to win a princess and castle, or something to those effects. I know that these ideas are certainly out of my programming/ modding abilities right now but I am working on it and want to know who would take up some of these ideas or help me on them.

just recently downloaded it, but is it just for npcs? or for players as well. I couldnt figure that out from the description and havent tested since I am spending money at a net cafe to be online at the moment. But it was all like, labor work jobs. I was thinking it would be nice to expand on the list.

im not sure there i dont use that mod cos i dont like OBSE but yes i see what you mean

If your looking for the idea of farming, then why not suggest a flower pot type of mod in which grows different plants depending on your option.

 

It would be like a flower pot except its actually a rectangular pot which allows plants to spawn on top of it.

Maybe seeds play a role in this? It will surely give more roleplaying for alchemists.

 

EDIT: Getting plants to spawn on top of a physical and movable pot seems like a bad idea...

So you can make it similar to the duplication thread except seeds and bottles of water is required to turn the pot into a [chosen plant] pot.

 

For example you want to get more tomatoes, You add tomato seeds (custom) and water bottle (custom), and leave it outdoor for a few days. When you come back the pot will change and you can look inside to take the plant.

It would be nice to do that. But it is certainly outside of what I can do. Best anyone can hope for from me at the moment is a quest based farm home where some of its upgrades plant the crops and the player harvests them to sell. I'm planning to do a small harvest valley area based off the harvest moon series. Later if I figure out the scripting abit more I'll see about your suggestions

You could make seeds for certain harvestable ingredients to be part of the loot (making a formula using the values from the alchemy skill to get a probability of looting them) and following dra6o0n's idea, using those seeds to plant what you want in special containers :D And why not use real farming instruments? That would give a whole lot more of imersion! You would have to water the seeds and hit them with the farming "weapons" a few times per day, or you could contract farmers to do it... I don't think it would be easy to script that (heck, i don't even think it is possible to :glare: )

sounds possible, just alot.....no I mean ALOT! of work to put into it. But then it should be worth it.

 

I'll see if I can have a continually updating mod for the farming process. First start out with the harvest town and the house. Then the crop generator expansions to buy in town. Then add the tools and watering. Then add plant jars and seeds. That way everyone gets a taste for each step.
