kawta
Hey all. I was just wondering, what could be the cause of grass and Oblivion plane textures appearing incorrectly? I can't pinpoint any mod that caused it, and if anyone knows a solution, I'd love to hear it. A lot of the grass textures throughout the world appear as a purple & green picture of a map, and whenever in an Oblivion plane the ground is simply pink. Any help would be appreciated, thanks. bben46
Purple ground I believe this is caused by a group of files called shaders. These files can be different for different graphics cards. If they somehow get the wrong shaders installed one of the results is the terrain in the foreground is purple. The shader package is based on your particular graphics card and is installed when you first install Oblivion. Any changes should only be made by people who are experienced with Graphics shaders. If you want more information on shaders, google it. I have seen 3 possible fixes for this problem. The easiest is to go into your in game menu, (esc) select video and make sure your texture size is set to large. The second involved the textures from unique landscapes. reinstalling them fixed it. The third involves loading patches in the wrong order and the only way to fix that one is to reinstall in the right order. Note that the oblivion uninstaller leaves behind your saves, mods (data) and oblivion.ini. These will still be there after you have reinstalled. So if You have a problem with a mod causing the problem or a bad save or a bad Oblivion.ini file The problem nay still be there. My recommended uninstall and reinstall leaves you with a clean install. And your original mods and saves in a separate folder that you can put back into the new game. Or you can start over and install your mods again. See this for my recommendation for uninstalling and reinstalling Oblivion. http://s1.zetaboards.com/TheStormRavenLibrary/topic/344290/ Please leave some feedback to let me know what works. kawta
Hey, thanks for the help. Is there any way to pinpoint if a mod has caused it? I ask this because I asked on another forum and was told it was a mod problem. What I have noticed recently is that the purple grass is actually a purple and green map of cyrodiil, tiled endlessly. Could it be that it is simply putting the wrong texture in the wrong place?
kawta
I recently tried uninstalling Oblivion, but I've run into another problem. It gives me an error message when I either try to use the Oblivion uninstaller, or remove it through Add or Remove Programs. It tells me to "Close any running programs, Empty your temporary folder or Check your Internet connection (internet-based setups) Error code - 5001." I don't know a whole lot in this area, and chances are it's probably something really simple that I'm missing. If it's a stupid question, I'm sorry, but I genuinely have no idea what to do. If possible I would like to preserve the majority of my mods, but I use OBMM and have no clue where the OMODs are stored. Any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks. billypnats
Purple ground problem is most likely to be caused by a mod called Depth of Field, download Either the OMOD or normal version of that mod to sort it out
Ronny411
Im betting that the purple text comes from installing wrong version patch for oblivion. f.e oblivion patch 1.2 i download and installed that on my pc, i installed the English version. Then i got the purple map grass thing all over oblivion. I was supposed to update oblivion with U.K Patch 1.2, Not english. And im from Norway so i got all confused by that, but my purple grass was deff from the English 1.2patch. It Somehow reset and delete the original grass and sets it to 0(if it was on 6 from before), What i been told.
061469
I fixed this problem by downloading the original shaders from TESnexus and replacing the ones I had sitting in my shaders folder. No more purple grass!
Deleted522812User
Ahhhh! Thank you soooo much for having solved this previously. It was my problem exactly. Ever notice that each city got it's own map for grass texture? Crazy poo. I went through so much before finding this thread online. Again, awesome, you saved me a LOT of work.
