diedalive
First of all, if this should somewhere be described, please do refer me to this thread. i looked for this already but failed to find thisparticular idea. The idea is as follows: weapons used for mashing up most of skyrims villians should suffer damage from it. Bows that shot thousands of arrows need repair, shield should need getting the arrowholes out, etc, etc... To me these repairs could be done by simply "upgrading" your weapon again. I mean, i've sharpened a lot o blades for Exp in smithing, but i never noticed a sharp blade to become blunt, mainly because i switch blades often, selling my weapons. It would also be much more meaningfull to have a smithing skill if you actually have to repair your weapons every now and then, for realism lovers that is. basically, summing up my thoughts - weapons going blunt after some time or battles, maybe have them go from shiny( shade em between normal and legendary?) to rusty looking?- shield and armor would visually suffer from having arrows on them (leather has holes, other may have just dents), same as for sword/blunt damage.- armor might slow you down when it gets rusty? To me it would give some meaning to smithing, as for now i just upgrade it to make use to my dragonkilling skill and wear dragon armor. And, seeing most realism added to battling, blood, view, suffering... made me wonder why weapons are still heroicly untouchable. pls give me some thought on this, maybe show me the way to a nice modprogram (can't seem to find a link, maybe my searchskill isn't so good), or help me develop? thx
imperistan
I do like weapon degradation. And while my modding skills are nowhere near the level needed to introduce it, I do have some ideas as to how it could be done. You could build stat degradation off of the grindstone/table mechanic (just going in reverse. And I imagine that this would be relatively easy) and have a script monitor it until it hits zero, at which point it'd replace your weapon or armor piece with a broken version that can't be used, or would simply prevent you from equipping the weapon/armor. Then you could use the grindstone or the table to restore your item. But I also had the idea of doing visual degradation alongside that. Basic weapons/armor could have a shader (that could be specific to that weapon/armor or a general one that could be applied to multiple, different items) applied to it as it degrades below 100 health, that would generate greater and greater degradation on the weapon. Enchanted weapons/armor wouldn't have this shader (because of the enchantment shader that would be present) but that could be explained away by the magic of the weapon keeping the weapon from degrading like that. However to keep the degradation process in, perhaps there could be a mechanic where your enchanted weapon/armor goes haywire? Where its effects would apply at random (and perhaps with the opposite effect) and/or to random targets, becoming more dangerous to use as it degrades. Then when it finally breaks there could be a magical explosion of whatever effect your item had (and it may be the opposite effect) and then it would just be a matter of repair (though perhaps with a soul gem). diedalive
lol never thought about enchanted weapons :P. yeah maybe it could be a way to degrade them every time you "reload" an enchanted weapon.make it less effective and explode is it reaches dead. if any1 knows where to find a modding program pls do guide me to it, i can't seem to find it, and i would like to try modding. just to see if this concept is anything :D. or if any1 has some spare modding time, i'd be grateful :)
