Deleted33130946User
Hello All, I have been very interested in creation HD textures for weapons in Fallout 3. Problem is, I take the base image of the Lever Action Rifle from Point Lookout and sharpen it for a test. Then I go ingame and the texture is horrible and blurry, like worse than the default. Obviously I am doing something wrong but I am unaware what it is. I replace the .dds itself as well as the normals. If you need more information just let me know, I tried to explain to the best of my ability. Anything helps! Thank you ***EDIT*** I did not take both .dds and normals I just took the normal of the first person .dds, to which i learned the first person texture for weapons are way bigger and thats why It was blurry. HynoDesigns
Going massive on texture sizes doesn't really improve that much. The entire HD thing is a nightmare per say. You can't take a VHS tape which is 240 lines and make it HD which is 1980x1080. With video game textures in some cases doubling the sizes helps with the detail. Going from 256x256 to 512x512. The 128x I always say to double the size. You need to understand I can't take a 128x128 file and make it 2048x2048 and think it is going to improve the heck out the look. At the same time I can go maybe 512x512 with the file and it will improve. Personally have not messed around with 1st person with weapons, I just remove that feature all together from every weapon I've ported over or re-designed.
