Stemin
To me a challenge is to die and reload the game and try a different strategy. Yes, i have no desire to be a "bolstering badass", but i have no fun in being that, it is about feeling "accomplishments" by beating something hard. That's your opinion and you're allowed to have one and it doesn't make it wrong, but I personally find it irritating and frustrating to do the same areas over and over again, to lose progress because of one guy, and to spend my "off" time being frustrated instead of enjoying myself. And I think the majority of people feel this way based on the way games have progressed. We went from games like Atari that had very little progression, to games like Super Mario Bros where you progressed but had to start over each time, to games that had checkpoints like the Zelda games, to games like TES where you can save up to the second. I think if most people wanted that kind of challenge more games would be like that Dark Souls or whatever its called.
fraquar
It's a catch 22, because sometimes that roadblock is telling us we are somewhere we probably shouldn't be anyway. That has it's place in games like this. I run into this from time to time taking a low level into Halted Stream Camp and getting hammer-jacked by the boss there. Too strong to go toe-to-toe with, don't do enough ranged damage to keep him from closing, follower (if I have one) too weak to keep him at bay. I leave and come back later to finish the job. MightyZ0G
the thing with all games that have a story within them is that everyone who buys them should be able to get to the end of the story to see how it finishes.it's like going to the cinema and half way through the usher telling you to leave because you aren't a high enough level to see the end. what is great about games like TES is that if YOU want it to be a challenge then YOU can make it one for YOU. people who play games to get an achievement/trophy so they can compare their progress in SP games against their online friends miss out on large aspects of the game. it is impossible to role play a character and chase after trophies. people need to worry less about what everyone else is doing and just enjoy playing how they want to
