Catgroove Posted June 8, 2012 Share Posted June 8, 2012 I'm no expert when it comes to modding, for I am merely an aspiring texture/model artist. But I've been around this community for a while, and I think my idea would be slightly possible. What if we could rewrite a part of the hardcoded properties of the races to incorporate the ability for them to each have unique meshes? The potential for such a resource would be enormous, even for non-modders. One could have this body mod for one race, that body mod for another. More body mods could come out (perhaps even by me, if I could wrap my head around releasing a mod) in order to better suit each individual race. I'm fairly sure that this isn't entirely out of the question, because I've seen mods that add new races, and these new races incorporate their own, separate, custom meshes. In my opinion, this would be very cool and add yet more mod-ability to the game. The only downside I foresee would be the game would have to load more resources if a cell had several races of actor in it, but I know at least for my system (which can run on ultra with full blown HD mods + RCRN Pure + 20 miscellaneous mods) it wouldn't be too bad. Now this is all fine and dandy, but transcend from this idea and also think of adding unique skeletons. This would be amazing as well, for each race could have unique animations, idles, kill moves, strike animations, you name it. It would also add the ability to have Khajiit and Argonian tails to have more bones, thus allowing them to be more animated. To be honest, it was a big aesthetic displeaser when my Khajiit's tail swung around like it was a stick glued to his ass. I can see why Bethesda was limited here, because they wanted to keep the skeletons the same across all races, but that could be an easy fix if each race got its own skeleton. I thought the same thing, but then I realised that shorter races like the bretons look extremely disproportional with that body. The author of this mod seems to be inactive, so I've taken the project into my own hands. This will be my first time handling an actual mod, not just learning with cookie cutters. If anyone wants to help, message me. I still think it has loads of potential. UPDATE: So far I've removed the play-ability of child races that the original author threw in. I didn't really like it, and I feel that it should be a completely separate mod.
