HighMonarch777
I've been thinking about how the Dawnguard and Vigilants can seem like they're doing something useful instead of the little implementation that they get in the vanilla game. I came across a few mods that add Dawnguard and Vigilants to cities and the Sun Rune mod. I think I just had a very good idea. I usually don't make mod requests, but the idea that I have seems so logical and makes total sense. I was thinking why don't the Jarls in the major cities have the Dawnguard and/or Vigilants place sun runes at all the public city entrances. (Including the Windhelm Docks gates in the Grey Quarter just in case) By placing the sun runes at all the public city entrances it would completely prevent vampires from entering the cities unnoticed. I believe the Jarls would find this to be a very good idea and allow it. It seems like it would be a very quick and easy thing for them to do. I'm thinking the runes won't set off at all by anyone who is a non-vampire and will only set off for vampires and undead. It would also really help in vampire and other undead attacks on cities that are part of the vanilla game and added by other mods because they will get hurt by them and killed by the guards if they survive the runes. I was also thinking that a vampire player would also be able to set off the sun runes if they try to enter through the public entrances. The sun rune would be scripted that the guards and ideally any Dawnguard and Vigilants that get added by other mods to immediately attack the vampire player if they set off the rune. I think it would definitely help make sense of the vanilla vampire attacks on the cities, because they thought they could sneak in. When they set off the sun runes they realize that they've been caught and therefore decide to try and fight back against the guards and possibly Dawnguard and Vigilants. The vampire player would have to find alternate entrances into the cities such as underground tunnels and/or sewers in order to remain undiscovered. When the runes do set off then the runes would respawn or get replaced by the Dawnguard and/or Vigilants. I think it would really make a lot of sense as to why Sybille Stentor would send you to deal with a vampire lair as part of her quest instead of doing it herself. She can't leave through the gates of Solitude without setting off the rune and revealing that she's a vampire to the public. I think that it would still make sense for Dawnguard and/or Vigilant members to still be posted in the major cities, because there are rumors of vampires hiding among the city's inhabitants and it's possible that they could have entered the major cities, before the sun runes were placed. (Yeah they're looking for people like you Sybille) It would also be very immersive if you can see the sun runes if you stand by the city gates and as you pass through them as a non-vampire. It would be very nice if there were options available to either choose to immediately enable the sun runes on game start or wait until the Hall of the Vigilants gets destroyed and Durak tells you about the Dawnguard. The sun rune mod doesn't have to place Dawnguard and Vigilants in the cities or create alternate entrances into the cities. It would only have to implement the sun runes. If it's just the sun runes that are implemented into the mod it would allow people to be able to choose whatever alternate city entrance mods and Dawnguard and/or Vigilant guard mods that are currently available and no doubt future mods of those types would be created to expand the options. The sun runes would only be at the major cities, because the minor cities and smaller settlements are out in the open and it would be impractical and take too much effort for the Dawnguard and Vigilants to surround the entire city or smaller settlement in sun runes. Thank you if you took the time to read this. I just thought I should share my idea. If this winds up getting created it would be very nice and add to the immersion.
