larinoja
Well I got this wild idea from those good old fallouts, where i could affect gameplay in large with making low intelligence character. It's sad that that awesome trait ain't anymore. I loved roaming mindlesly (literally) on wastes.I'd love to see my character, once again, not to be able to form a whole sentence or get a hint from anyone. I'd like to play that stupid, repulsive little boy again and laught for those sentences and their outcomes. Also what is missing is that hatred for lowminded people in wastes. I was shocked when i tried this on FO:NV; low int affect only to handfull of conversations. So what i'm asking is that some who know how Fallout 1&2 low int char worked would chance EVERY CONVERSATION in game to same old glibberish for low int chars(also some gameplay chances that comes in mind while project goes on). I know this means massive amount of effort to make but i believe there's part in all of us who wants to play retarted. Damn the Bethesda for taking this away from us. Sorry for bad english, haven't studied it for long time. EDIT: This could also be trigged by choosing Trait at Doc's in Goodsprings so no game chance for those who want's to make avg/high int chars while mod is active Edited June 13, 2012 by larinoja
flamenx01
There is a lot more low intelligence stuff in the game that you think. Here's a link to were some of them happen:http://fallout.wikia.com/wiki/Intelligence#Fallout:_New_Vegas_2(There is also more further up on the page) Edited June 8, 2012 by flamenx01
senterpat
Wow I never knew about any of that, that's pretty cool, I like to see a mod that expands it tho.I'll keep an eye out for npc responses that could be a response to something stupid.

Not a single party pointed me with shotgun and told to get out or get killed. Also i'd like to get encounters where someone/party closes up for retartbeating competition. FO:NV need more intolerance for mentally challenced, it's not yet part of NCR yet, and there's something like survival of the fittest going on. Also, i'd like my char not to be able to form a whole errorfree sentance in whole game cause problems with brains. I'd love to see my char mentally challenged but with int 1 he can figure out 99,9% of conversations and always respond with those same perfect sentences as those smarties. Me make point? M-me no smart, m-m-me speak this like, always. No want speak smart! Also i'd love to see some more responces from npc's when they see this poor little fella. there should be about same amount more than existing ones like that shotgun thing, some perks for dummies, encounters ect (also some positive oners too). don't know how to specify this reguest but i try. And Like senterpat said, this feature need expanding Edited June 8, 2012 by larinoja
VaultPi
mind you I really liked the frankenstine's monster trait from Arcanum. (stealth dummy, you can only use the low intellegence dialog options)
senterpat
The "ghoul" at the repconn west of novac would be good to edit dialogue, he already talks to you like your stupid. Edited June 12, 2012 by senterpat

senterpat
I believe he was referring to the game arcanum. This was the first place I heard of low int character, and the few conversations I've come across were a lot of fun. So for that reason I've decided to take this project upon myself, and make my first public release mod. I'm no master of the geck so this will take some time. Planned features:-Rewrite almost all vanilla dialogue prompts.-Redo as many objects in game that have text, to make the character seem illiterate or dyslexic.-Add a few perks and traits based around being stupid.-Add a stupid companion -may add a few references from older game low int chars. The way I plan on doing this mod is not going to be very compatible with other mods, since I plan to edit a lot of vanilla material. I don't want to put in (av)intelligence speech checks, simply because it's more work, and I think the original dialogue would still be there. I'm still looking into how Ignacio handles it, and will be working on it tonight. My plans are greater than my talents, and will be needing help, the only thing I know I can accomplish is the edited dialogue and the perks. I'm no writer, so if anyone would like to help with ideas and such send me a PM, I'll be sure to give credit where it's due.
VaultPi
The "ghoul" at the repconn west of novac would be good to edit dialogue, he already talks to you like your stupid. Arcanum is another game made by Brian Fargo, Frankenstine's monster was one of the starting traits, increased strength, & endurance, etc. extra damage from fire, and you had to use all the low int diolog options even if your character was high int, also everyone had a negative reaction to you (you look WRONG)
senterpat
So I've started editing dialogue, its slow going, and will take quite a while to do the entire game, but I've done most of goodsprings, I havent edited any NPC responses, just changed the prompts the player is presented with. I'd like to get some ideas from yall if I can, as I didnt play the old fallout games and havent experienced it first hand. I'm trying to think of replacement words the player would use for certain things, that may be too complicated for his mind to grasp. I'd also like to know how the player referred to common items in the game, such as caps, medical supplies, brotherhood of steel, anything that he commonly mispronounced, etc. Some of the things I need replacements terms for so far are:Powder gangersNew california republic(i figure he could say ncr most times, but sometimes try to say this to sound smart)Caesers legion(could just say legion not sure if i should bother to changerdynamite(boomsticks?)also anything else that you think would be too complicated for the player to say, or would refer to in a simple or different way, cities, guns, would all be a great help.Thats all for now, once Ive got it all done in goodsprings ill release it to see what you guys think. I'm also planning to lower dispotion of most people to you, not sure how to do it yet tho. Edited June 14, 2012 by senterpat
