New to Modding and Need Some Help

Hello! So I am new to the modding scene (at least CP modding), but I think I have a good handle on it. I have separate files for characters so my game isn't attempting to load crap tons of extra files when I can just wipe out the mods and then load the ones for the characters I am working on. and in the beginning, it works smoothly and wonderfully. However, the problem arises in Haven. The beginning of Haven. The very Beginning.

 

I cannot make it past the Chantry in Haven. Up until that point, the game runs smoothly, CC and the tutorial run smooth and beautiful, nothing freezes, hell I hardly have the littlest clipping issue. However, upon waking up in Haven and heading to the Chantry, the problem arises. I can get into the Chantry, but at about the mid point to the War Table Door, my game crashes. I can't even close the game, I have to restart the whole computer. I was hoping that maybe someone could eyeball my list of mods that are constant through my characters that I believe are causing the crash by either conflicting with the game itself or another mod. If no one can find anything, a suggestion for a less time consuming way to single the offender/offenders out would be most appreciated.

 

(A star will be placed next tot he ones I believe are the offenders, but aren't sure)

Troubleshooting mod conflicts is straightforward.

 

Always the same process:

 

1. Remove/uninstall all mods.
2. Does game behave properly? (if not, different problem.)
3. If yes, add back half the mods.
4. Does game still behave properly?
5. If yes, add back half the remainder.
6. Rinse/Repeat.
7. As soon as game does not behave properly, start adding the last set of mods one-by-one until you identify the culprit.

 

It's not rocket science, and you can do it with no help from anyone. :thumbsup:

I have had this exact same thing happen to me. My solution was to uninstall all mods except the ones that would be actually visible in the scene - the mods on my Inquisitor and on the NPCs that are in the cutscene - merge, get through that glitchy cutscene, save, then re-merge your whole folder.

 

I've noticed that when you have a lot of mods, sometimes it just seems to get overwhelmed? might depend on your hardware idk.

 

with that said, i have had trouble with the Green Eyes mod for Blackwall before. I've never gotten it to load correctly, it always makes things crash. So maybe try that one and see if it's the issue. The rest of that Blackwall set loads fine for me, it's just the eyes.
