No Respect

I am an officer in the Imperial Legion...a Legate no less, and yet an Imperial footslogger has the audacity to ask me the insulting question of "Let me guess...someone stole your sweetroll?" in an insulting manner. For this henious crime I should be in my right to sever his head from his body on the spot!

The only time I can recall that a soldier acknowledges my rank after completing the Imperial quest, is when the old girl in the Solitude alchemy shop wants you to enquire about her daughter, and you have to ask a captain. At first he is reluctant to give out the details..but there is an option to pull rank and order him to tell you, which he does

The imperial military does seem to have a chain-of-command problem, aside from the lack of respect of town guards for their superior officers. ("Hey, that's 'keep your hands to yourself, sneak thief SIR!' unless you want a month on KP.")

Random groups of soldiers escorting Stormcloak prisoners on the road will give you the "move along, citizen" routine despite your Legate rank. ("Who are you calling 'citizen', fool, and who are you to tell me this is none of my business? Drop and give me 20!")

General Tullius seems remarkably unconcerned that the Thalmor are sending out hit squads for you. What kind of army doesn't back its own soldiers, particularly when they're high-ranking officers? Some band of brothers THIS is!

At the end of the day, it looks like a hitch with the imps was a bad idea. Where's that Stormcloak recruiting office?

It is rather oddly incongruous that your feats in the war are seldom recognized in interaction with soldiers but every city guard somehow knows your various skill levels. No big deal, though it is a little weird when I get the "lightly armoured means light on your feet - smart!" when I'm decked out in full Daedric. And having to prove yourself to the stormcloaks by slaying an icewraith is a bit silly considering you're the freakin' killer of ALDUIN. Weird what information gets around and what doesn't.

@ BrettM: "that's keep your hands to yourself, sneak thief SIR" - Indeed!!

@ Stemin, if you were in the US military, as a grunt, and you didn't show due respect to say a colonel (which I relate a legate equalling) whether you know their name or not, do you reckon you wouldn't recieve some sort of reprimand? The good General told me during the induction conversation that once you are in the legion, you are in it for life, and how the legion looks after it's own....but I started this thread as a tongue in cheek comment, not a serious one ;)

Yeah, the guards have no respect. I am The Dragonborn, the killer of Alduin, The Harbinger of the Companions, The Master of the Thiefs

Guild, one of the Nightingales, leader of the Dark Brotherhood in Skyrim, Thane in all the citys, the one who killed the Emperor, the only

person alive who can defeat the entire army of the Thalmor (and alone), and they don´t stop from saying this: ´´Hands to yourself, Sneak thief!`` or

´´Íf i find your hand in my pocket, i will cut it off!``. This make me mad! :verymad:

*becomes Thane of Hjaalmarch*

"Hands to yourself, sneak thief!"

...I don't even play a thief. Pickpocket is easily one of my worst skills. o_O

I'm also Arch Mage of Winterhold, yet non of the mages I meet show me any decorum at all and non of my dialogue options lets me throw my title around.

Speaking of which, why is it that when someone asks who I am ("Halt! Who dares approach the Jarl?") I don't have the option to respond: "The goddamned Dragonborn, that's who! Stand aside, I take large steps!"

For some reason my character always insists on introducing herself as some vagabond adventurer looking for work, as opposed to the legendary hero fortold to save everyone's sorry skins.
