duckley
AHhhh, so same folder set-up as with the retail-disc install. Just make sure there's no other "alistair" morph anywhere else. Any past of the game in which your Warden appears should be fine, but realize that it won't be able to display an NPC's modded look in certain in-game movies (the ".bnk" files). So are you saying that I should create another folder under my documents (currently I have the bioware/dragonage in my documents from the retail disc) and transfer all the files from my computer that appear under program files/Dragon Age (from the Origins download) to this new folder. In addtion to this i should delete any duplicate files from the original disc folder? As an aside - all the dazips are working fine on the Origins version for whatever thats worth.. Just cant seem to get more hairstyles (an override) and the Alistair morph to work.,
Thandal
Ok, there are two sets of identically named folders involved in the game. One set is found under "C:\Program Files\Dragon Age..." (or the equivalent for those running on 64-bit Windows, or other customized installs.) This is where the actual game files from the disc/download are placed, (and for the Ultimate Edition, also where the DLC files are placed.) Except for a couple of very specific mods, ("JB's Textures" for example) you will NEVER have to place anything here. Any mod that does require it will be very clear in the instructions. For everything else, whenever the mod instructions talk about the "override" folder, they are talking about the one found at:"\[user's documents]\Bioware\Dragon Age\packages\core\override". BTW: The set of folders under "\[user's documents]\Bioware\Dragon Age\..." is also where your chartacters, game saves, screenshots, etc., will be placed. Everything "player-created" that the game uses ends up here. (Generally, although it may exist, you will have NOTHING in the folder: "C:\Program Files\Bioware\Dragon Age\packages\core\override". Nothing at all.) The mod "More Hairstyles", and any others that affect your character's appearance as built during the Character Creator (CC) phase, is a whole different issue. Getting those mods to work requires understanding how to update the "CharGenMorpCfg.xml" file. Most authors provide the appropriate .xml as an additional file with their mod, but if the player is using more than one such mod then they'll need to integrate those entries into a single set. duckley
I really, really appreciate your efforts to assist, but unfortunately I am not sure I am sophisticated enough to understand your advice. Are you saying that I should delete everything that i have in my C: program files/dragonage (deosnt say bioware) in the override file and work from the files "\[user's documents]\Bioware\Dragon Age\packages\core\override". If that is the case, all the mods that I downloaded for the retail disc game are there and were working previously... but not in this game!! Furthermore, interesting enough there are no screenshots from my current (Origin downloaded) game in the screenshot file. "Getting those mods to work requires understanding how to update the "CharGenMorpCfg.xml" file. Most authors provide the appropriate .xml as an additional file with their mod, but if the player is using more than one such mod then they'll need to integrate those entries into a single set. See: Using Dragon Age Mods for Dummies." Finally, the instructions that came with the two mods - more hairstyles and dreamy alistair indicate that I was to place the files in the packages/core/override folder. I do not recall making any manual changes to these files in my previous game and they both worked... so unfortunately, I remain confused... :wallbash: Again, I do appreciate your patience and assistance! Thandal
Since it appears you have at least remnants of multiple installs from at least two different sources on you machine, you don't want to go just deleting things willy-nilly. But it's also not a matter of just leaving things alone, since you have two different places where you've put mods that may conflict with one another. Did you read the article I linked? If so, what are your questions about the mods you're trying to get working? Here are the folder Structures we're talking about... Program Files: http://dragonage.nexusmods.com/images/1678793-1339381867.png Player's Files (Including Mods): http://dragonage.nexusmods.com/images/1678793-1339382713.png
duckley
yes, I read the article and do not have any questions. I understand the two locations for files. I have deleted all that I put in the C:program/dragonage area I had put the mods there only because I assumed this was how the Origin download worked - ndidnt realize this was created for the disc game as well.... ... the other (my documents/bioware etc) having been from the retail disc All the mods are in the correct file as per your screenshot. Below are the locations of the mods that aren't working. I have followed the instructions. I http://dragonage.nexusmods.com/mods/392 - i have the DAmodder and the mod is installed there. It is alos in my packages/core/overide folder. I do not have any mod that modifies the Character Creatorr. I do have the CharGenMorph Compiler by TerraEx.. http://dragonage.nexusmods.com/mods/1609 - pretty straght forward.. Dont know why these two mods worked previously... Thandal
Right, so the "More Hairstyles" .zip file includes the CGMC.xml file that needs to be present if that's your only CC mod. Did you extract it and place it in the "\override" folder as well? As far as the Alistair .mor, check to make sure that's the only "hm_genfl_alistair.mor" file anywhere on your system, and that you don't have any other mods that might affect NPC appearances. Valixia
i am using the steam version where do i put the Mor files then?
DwainDibley
Try putting your .mor file in a folder with "ZZ" at the beginning of its name in your override folder like: ZZ-Alistair. The game will load whatever you put in it last and override any other .mor files with the same name. This works with a lot of other mods as well, such as the "Kids" mod. I also use folders with ! in the start of the name to get them to load first, eye colors, makeup and hair colors for example.
