LoneSta
I am a newb to your forum and to Oblivion AND to RPGs to boot. Oblivion is my first RPG and I am blown away at how huge and beautiful it is. I have run into some bugs: I got trapped on some women lying on the floor in an inn and had to reload at last save. But all in all it is to be expected with a game so extensive in its scope. Anyway, I came across some pics of the natural environment mods and they really take the already great graphics and add much more polish and I would like to implement one. Can you all recommend some of the must have mods (and ones that don't conflict with one another) and point me to the info on how to go about installing them? I have never installed a mod before so point me to the real newbie version of how. I bought the Game of the Year version so I have both expansions but have just started playing the game so I am not to the point of installing the expansions yet. I appreciate any help y'all can offer.

LoneSta
Ok, thanks. I still hope some folks will recommend the best eye candy mods too (trees, weather, etc.)
FearlessHamster
There is a lot of great mods. Althougt I would recommend to not use many game changing mods on your first playthrought. Then you will know how the game looks and feels unmodified. You will then know which parts of the game you want to change. If your character get stuck again, press § to open the console, then write tcl (toggle collision) and press enter. press § again to close the console. Now you can fly anywhere, througt solide objects. When done press § and write tcl to toggle collision on then press § to close the console. For more information about how to use mods read the Oblivion Mods FAQ: http://cs.elderscrolls.com/constwiki/index...livion_Mods_FAQ

For more information about how to use mods read the Oblivion Mods FAQ: http://cs.elderscrolls.com/constwiki/index...livion_Mods_FAQ Well how many weeks of play do you need to see what voblivion is all about? I suppose it depends on the user. I first wanted a better house when I bought my first vanilla home and it was haunted and I hated it. Then I realized the Bethesda female body was pretty ugly and I tried another. I fixed my hair (Corean and Ren) and started researching beauty/texture/eye mods and compatibilities. I just personally do not agree with playing the entire game in "ugly" mode just because it's your first time. Maybe some of the gameplay changing mods would be best for later (or never in my view) but after I finished the main quest I've been very happy that I can download more quests and things to do -- houses to buy and furnish, stores to open, companions to clothe and hang out with. Plus some day I'm going to have to go back over to the SI but I don't like it there.
bben46
If you are new to mods and especially to downloading, please start with something simple. Not one of the huge makeover type mods like some recommend. Those large mods can be aggravating to experienced modders to get working right. I have a set of help files for people new to downloading and mods. they include how to download a mod, how to unzip the mod how to get it into the game along with a very simple sample mod that can be downloaded to try it out and see if you are doing it right. After you know how, then try something a little more complex. The help files can be found here. http://s1.zetaboards.com/TheStormRavenLibrary/forum/256092/ Just click on the highlighted part to be taken to the site where this is located. myrmaad
Totally agree with Bben. (I just don't see the point of something like OOO though I know it has it's fanatical followers. I'm waay too picky about which things I want changed to hand over control to some massive makeover that matches someone else's idea of what should be changed.) Balance? According to who exactly? My opinion for what it's worth, is to evaluate what really irritates you. Then download accordingly. For me a big one is the ability to denock arrows. But I don't want a whole archery overhaul either. Just denock the dang arrows. Know what I mean? Anyway I think that's best: play for a while and download according to your needs.
