So the other night I was thinking (yeah yeah) and I came up with a potentially gut-busting idea. Largely as a joke or as a highly informative mod idea (pick your poison) I want to create a Tour Guide for the game of Oblivion. The poll is your way of helping me choose what I should do.

Would you want a smart aleck Tour Guide whose timing is such that you are teleported into the middle of a giant battle and are almost attacked by a mob? Or perhaps a pedantic Tour Guide whose voice puts you to sleep and when you are discovered asleep you wake up in the midst of a herd of sheep?

Well post your reply and cast your votes and I will attempt to bring to life this mysterious Tour Guide!

Going to lay out some non-spoiler quotes the Tour Guide might have:

"And here we are at the Odiil Farm, a seemingly abandoned homestead that an old man wishes to reclaim." -- Pedantic tone

"Here now we stand at the gates to the once-great city of Kvatch...as you can see it's a little worse for wear." -- Ironic

"We are arriving at Cloud Ruler Temple...though why anyone should wish to have dominion over the clouds is beyond me." -- Smart Aleck

"We now stand upon Dive Rock. Please don't take a dive as you all still owe me much gold!" -- Cheeky

"Before you is the Temple of the One which houses the legendary Dragonfires. Believe me when the Temple blows its top, you'll know." - Story Related

"Ah, the Vile Lair of an Ancient Being...I feel so at home here...and thirsty..." -- Creepy

For those who have voted so far I thank you and urge you to show this to friends and ask them to vote. This mod is for all of you and I want to hear what you have to say or what you want to see out of it.

Also for anyone who wants to see something come of the "locations we request" selection please feel free to start listing locations. I will start looking into the various locations and whatever information is known of them or can be made and see how I can shape it to fit the Tour Guide.

ie. The Applewatch farm -- Home of the Matriarch of the Doomed. (Why are they doomed? Well that would be telling...and a spoiler...can't help you on this forum)

A tour Guide?

So, effectively, a NPC that guides you around the Game, and Mod locations if compatiblity mods are made, telling you about the lore, and history of said Areas?

Sounds Fun, so long as the voice actor hired knows his stuff and dosn't become tiresome of hearing from.

It would be a good idea to have him start off in the prison with you as a cellmate, or something along those lines, him being present as he gave a noble bad directions once.

He'd be scripted to respond to the quest you're currently on and would bring up according topics relating to said quest, talking about locations leading up to your objective, dangers- etc.

Yeah, sounds fun.

Though considering how the majority of places in Vanillia Oblivion and SI are poorly represented, twoul'd be best if the tourguide gave directions for an oblvion equipped with all of the engineering guilds mods, unique landscapes, midas magic, and the lost spires.

That wasn't actually the way I was planning on doing it but this is a pretty good idea in and of itself...kinda brings to mind the Faeries in the Zelda franchise. And thus I have two other possibilities for the Tour Guide. Excellent and thanks for the input!
