cfly42
So, I'm having trouble replacing the music from the main menu and I'm not sure why. I did the exact same thing I saw in a video about replacing music and nothing changed. This is what I did, so far. I can't imagine that I'm far off from the answer. (When reading these, keep in mind that I've successfully replaced the music for combat and ice dungeons, but the main theme still won't change.) - made a folder named "music" and put it in "Data" of main Skyrim folder. Put three more folders in "music" and named them "combat", "dungeon", "special" (no apostrophes for any of these). Found the song I wanted for main theme and converted it into .wxm. Renamed this song "mus_maintheme.xwm" and put it in the "special" folder. -- Result: Did not change main theme music. - converted song I wanted into a .wav file, renamed it mus_maintheme.wav and put it in the "special" folder. -- Result: Did not change main theme. - renamed the newly .wav song mus_maintheme.xwm and put it in the "special" folder. Still, the main theme remains the same. What I find interesting about this is you can't find the original file "mus_maintheme.xwm" when using TES5edit or Creation Kit, but mus_maintheme.xwm appears after unpacking Skyrim's music and sound. How is Skyrim even using this song if its not programmed in? This further confuses me because I watched a video (about 6 years old) showing the guy do the same thing I did every step of the way but successfully changing the main theme. Does anybody know what's going on here? Am I missing something or did I do something wrong? None of this makes any sense...
