Skyrim problems

I am trying to run Skyrim on my PC but it seems to always run slow (usually at 6-14 frames per second) and that's with low-texture packs, all the settings turned down and even Windows visuals reduced to nothing. Even when I reduce the resolution to 800x600, it's still a-bit weird but even so - who wants to play a game that's meant to look good when there's jagged lines, poor ratios on textures and whatnot.

Have you connected your monitor to the correct connector, it should be on the graphics card and not the motherboard connector that is next to the usb-ports.

And then still the HD5450 would not run skyrim at more than low settings at 720p

Yeah, I use the video card itself; I'm just really wandering what's going on. Perhaps a new high-end video card is needed?

The 5450 is pretty weak and not meant for gaming but I didn't expect it to do that bad.

For a new card you could look at the Radeon HD7750.

I think you would be able to play at 1920x1080 at medium to high settings.

I mainly advised this card because I don't know what powersupply you have and you can run the 7750 in any case.

You didn't have to post the whole log... Your PC has a very weak GPU, maybe an integrated unit. No chance of smooth gameplay. It's in fact so weak that even i3-2105 would be faster, and it's only marginally faster than the iGPU in i3-2100. Such video cards are usually bought for office PCs.

At $100 for a factory-OC 7770 with good cooling it's a great deal, normally you can only get a stock 7750 for that money.

At 1440x900 (your monitor's native res) you should be able to comfortably run Skyrim on high settings, and really most any modern games and upcoming games for a few years.

You didn't have to post the whole log... Your PC has a very weak GPU, maybe an integrated unit. No chance of smooth gameplay. It's in fact so weak that even i3-2105 would be faster, and it's only marginally faster than the iGPU in i3-2100. Such video cards are usually bought for office PCs.

At $100 for a factory-OC 7770 with good cooling it's a great deal, normally you can only get a stock 7750 for that money.

Probably not an integrated GPU, with 1GB dedicated memory.

Plus, my laptop with mobility 5450 runs skyrim 720p@20-25 fps textures maxed. With a 1.3 ghz core i3. Surely something else is your problem. Do you have the same problem with other games too? Sometimes skyrim Has a tendency to play sluggish.

Since I'm lazy I'm going to recommend a few mods that may improve (hardly) your overall performance:

Highalgo boost, which is more bearable than using low-res all the time: http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/15123

Shadow remover, self explanatory. Removes the dynamic shadows.

It may be a difference in where you measure the framerate. BTW, 5450M is actually slightly (by 3%) faster than regular 5450.

7450 is slightly faster than 5450 (it's also old-gen).
