@AndreD, hi, as you know your existing EVGA 7900gtx OC 512mb can run Skyrim at low-medium settings,

the EVGA GeForce GTX 550 Ti Superclocked 1024MB you've picked will do high/very high.

EVGA GTX 550 Ti is a popular GPU and gets good reviews from users.

I have seen it for sale at Newegg (Customer Choice Award Winner) for $114.99 with rebate and free shipping:

EVGA 01G-P3-1556-KR GeForce GTX 550 Ti (Fermi) FPB 1GB 192-bit GDDR5 PCI Express 2.0 x16 HDCP Ready SLI Support Video Card

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814130625

I don't know about the item at NCIX (you didn't provide a link); but, Newegg's item has:

Core Clock: 951MHz (vs. NV Ref. 900 Mhz).

Shader Clock: 1962 Mhz (v.s. 1903 Mhz Reference).

A quick search of NCIX (Canada) i see the EVGA GTX 550 Ti on sale for $109.99-$119.99 with rebate.

http://ncix.com/search/?categoryid=0&q=EVGA+GeForce+GTX+550+Ti+

(the 2GB unit is going for $139.99).

@AndreD, i don't think you can go wrong picking the NVIDIA GeForce GTX 550 Ti Superclocked 1024MB to run Skyrim at

your price point; and, EVGA has a good trusted overall rep with their GPU products.

Looking at the link you provided, those specs look ok to me, good luck getting the rebate lol.

fyi, keep an eye on cooling and especially your existing power supply, requirements state a minimum of a 400W.

Welcome to the nvidia camp.

@AndreD, i do not have an informed opinion about the latest Dell-Alienware gaming desktops.

There's a lot of fanboys and haters of the Alienware stuff, Aurora configured at $1,799.99 seems alittle pricy to me for what you're getting i guess lol.

I build my own rigs and waiting for ASUS to release the Maximus V Extreme motherboard, maybe the Nvidia 690 to come down in price,

and Dell to release the new U3012 30" monitor.

We'll see lol, might just get another superduper gaming laptop and external monitor.

True on fans nd haters. The system is pricey. If i shop around a bought everything myself, i most likely surpass what they offer for same amount of money

But with all the hits i have been taking financial wise. It's been a *censored* to get ahead of anything.

WTF censorship? kidding. Guess "*B ! T C H*" is a no no. K no prob lmao

I have the MSI version of the 550 GTX-ti - I am very happy with it's performance. The MSI version has a oversized fan that sticks up above the top of the board - If you do look at these (MSI Cyclone design) be sure it will fit as it is a little taller than most cards.

Please do not count on actually getting a rebate. Rebates are a marketing trick to make the price look lower than it really is. They do anything possible to keep from having to pay those and force you to jump through hoops. Then, you wait a minimum of 6 weeks and often several months for it. If you pay the full price, expect that to be the price, If you do eventually get a rebate check, consider that a bonus.
