Shadowcode_3030
I have been surfing and downloading a few mods for a while now and I still am looking for ways to improve game-play/immersion with more weapons, armor and NPCs. I have mixed and matched various NPC mods, WARZONES, Mercenaries and a few other little mods that add more life to the NPCs around me. I have managed to add some weapons in like one handed warhammers, more swords; more armor like chain mail, cloaks and bandoliers. as well some basic needs mods that make making food items and collecting them worth while instead of taking up space. I am guilty of using the levlers tower, but only because of using it as a player home instead of the cheater boards that are present in the place. I need a big place to stash my merc death letters (inheritance letters as put by the mercenary mod), clean my inventory and have a place that has everything i need instead of going from town to town before setting off again on my journey. However, I'm still on the hunt for a few mods that will make certain aspects of the game very sound and maybe more realistic while adding to the immersion to the game. First off, Meat wagons and looters. let me explain: skyrim is being engulfed in total civil war right? then why aren't their signs of battles or aftermath of battles going on everywhere? this question was somewhat awnsered with the WARZONES mod but still, something still wasn't right so I thought, "hey, why not have looters and body collectors nearby the area to swoop in after the battle's conclusion?" thus, meat wagons and looters, in reality such folks did existed that fallowed armies and stayed outside the fighting till it was over or night fell; they went around the battlefield collecting weapons, armor, personal belongings, money and so on. as well there where men hired by both fighting factions to fallow armies to collect the dead and wounded and cart them off to either back to camp to be treated or to designated areas to be buried. Seeing a cart or wagon hauling off casualties of war would be an eery sight to see while traveling on foot towards a town or cave. as well make it seem that the war is still in full swing. this will also add more "life" to the camps of both stormcloak and imperials to see that not only to healthy survivors return on foot but the wounded come back to only be placed in a tent to recover for a finite time set. not to mention coming across a battle field watching men crouch over the dead, picking their pockets for gold or other valuables or picking up weapons and/or armor from the bodies to either keep or trade off. This will allow a more easy way to collect what you want from a battle field if you can either take down a looter or buy his ill-gotten spoils, maybe these characters can be added to a faction that punishes you with a bounty if you kill them. performance wise, this will be a in-game (or more natural) way to clean up battles that have ended. same can go for the civil war quests. as for the grave sights, they'll be varying in headstone count and graves, either they're will be small pits for unclaimed soldiers, various individual graves for named bodies and even more detailed grave sights of killed officers or generals. Also, it has been known for not all bodies will be accounted for during clean up so some corpses will be left out in the open to rot while being picked clean by looters and scavengers. Another thing that kinda bugs me still is how some bodies can be lying where they died after months and still look fresh in game. So, I would like to suggest a mod that grants body decay. nothing really simple, just a mod that makes all bodies have a timer on them after the NPC has been killed. after a set amount of time the mesh/texture of the body will take a different color tone and have signs of deterioration and so on until the body falls apart to a skeleton and then fades from the spot in game. an easy way would to attach this system to the in game re spawn time system so it'll be a visual to the player to determine when a particular NPC(s) will respawn. This is also a in-game method to clean up the landscape so your save file size and computer perfromance doesn't take a huge hit when walking across a battlezone or a spot that you used the spawn codes in. I have seen this next idea has already been suggested but I would like to voice the idea of a mod that adds durability to weapons, clothing, cloaks and armor to the game. instead of simply affecting just the player, but all Human/humanoid NPCs in the game. This system would act like the charge system that comes with enchanted weapons, but each weapon/armor (based on material, quality and temper) will have a durability bar that would be, if seen in inventory, seen below the bar that would appear if item is enchanted, of course will have a different color so one would not get confused by the two if a weapon is enchanted. I have also read an idea if the enchanted weapons break or are close to breaking, they will have random effects. instead of that, have it so that when they are close to breaking, the effects of the weapon will lessen and when the weapon breaks, the effects will stop functioning. visually, the weapon/armor will have various shades/colors/meshes that will show the status of the weapon or armor or other items. However, when the item breaks, there will be a mesh that will appear on the player when they are broken. like say, you swing your sword (sword) and it breaks it'll only be half a sword, the tip portion will of broken off and you are stuck with half the blade and the hilt. at that point you must find a replacement or equip the next weapon in your inventory. on the upside, this will also affect NPCs. Bandits and other non-faction enimies will have weapons of varying in quality and durability, unless the cave, for example, has a grind wheel or workbench or smithy. the durability of weapons, armor and quality of both will be random. quality to an extent for sometimes it'll be just complete broken to find an ebony sword in the hands of a simple bandit in the very first mine of the game (or is it?) about bows and arrows: bows, when they weaken will have a shorter range and when they break, the string will either snap or the body will snap in two, giving you either a string-less bow or a shattered body. since arrows are pooled, there is a random chance that an arrow will break on impact or breaks if trying to retrieve them from targets or bodies. this little factor can help put an end to ungodly amounts of arrows in a player's inventory. another thing I thought about is if a weapon, armor or clothing is left out in the weather long enough their durability will degrade slowly, eventually, they will break apart by the elements and fade out from the game.so finding a skeleton body with a rusting sword and leather armor falling apart might be a nifty little touch to the game if one does not go collect all the things when looting a battlezone. And there you have it. from decaying flesh to broken weapons to possibly considered ideas. thank you for reading ^_^
