Free Model!

Okay, I am an amateur 3d moddeler and, in order to provide a demonstration AND because I was somewhat bored, I have created a model of Riku's sword, The Soulstealer. I think that is what it is called. I really don't have the heart (or probably the talent) to texture this bad boy, and I don't want to rig this into nifscope and put it into the game. But I also didn't want it to sit rusting (figuratively) in my computer.

So, I'm offering this file for anyone who wants it. I do have some conditions:

 

CONDITION 1:

Give me credit for the model if you decide to use it.

 

CONDITION 2:

Be awesome

 

CONDITION 3:

Errrrrrrrr

 

CONDITION 4:

Cake.

 

As long as you meet those conditions, you can do whatever the heck you want with this sword.

Bumping threads is against the rules at The Nexus.

 

Some tips for giving models away as a resource:

 

1. Use .obj if you are giving the model away for free because that is universal for 3d modeling software.

2. Do a UVW map and a basic texture.

3. Never claim Blender is better than 3DS Max. thats subjective and also not true and insulting to someone interested in the model.

4. If you are so interested in the model being added to the game that you feel the need to bump the thread then maybe you should finish it and upload yourself, If not and you just want to share it...post it at a model resource site like TurboSquid which this model looks like one from there already.

Could you kindly direct me to where you found that bumping was against the rules? I checked the terms of service and I couldn't find anything. I don't ask because I doubt you, I ask because I do not wish to violate anything else and was under the impression that all of the rules were found here http://forums.nexusmods.com/index.php?app=forums&module=extras&section=boardrules

 

I will upload this file in obj if it is easier. As for being able to texture it and add it, well, I'm frankly not good at texturing and I happen to be working on other projects. Mostly the main quest overhaul. Its gonne be cool

 

And I reserve the right to claim that blender is better than 3ds max, because it is my professional opinion. I would frankly be shocked if someone was offended because I like blender better then 3ds max, and it is doubtful that my advice to get it would come off as offensive as well. Everything that I say is, by default, my opinion. And it says absolutely nothing about other people, nor does it insult them, that it is my opinion that blender is better then 3ds max. If it does insult them, well, their devotion to 3d modeling programs is admirable.

 

As for turbosquid, the file on there doesn't really look at all like mine, and you have to pay for that one, vs the fact that this is free (thus the thread name "free model"). And I do just want to share it, but I want to share it with this community, because it was this community that inspired me to make it.

Allthough you got a point, there is a big different between "I claim Blender is better than 3ds max" and "I like Blender more than 3dsmax".

I believe that is the thing he pointed out. Unless you've been asked for proffesional opinion on the software, then saying "I claim Blender is better than 3ds max" can be seen offensive.

1) Posting one liners. Replying to a thread and just saying something like "hey!" "yeah!" "lol" "I agree" "no" etc..

2) Posting the same thread/post repeatedly in order to gain attention.

3) Posting something completely off-topic (OT) that has nothing to do with the thread.

4) Posting in a thread to simply "bump" it back to the top of the forum listings with no additional or useful content.

Keyword there is "Useful content". This is useful.

 

What that rule states, is if your just bumping a dead old thread that nobody has expressed interest in and you have made it for no reason, you are spamming.

I didn't say your model was from TurboSquid, i implied it looked like one you would find there, as in it would fit in on TurboSquid and others would find it and use it if they like it thus others would use your model. And TurboSquid has free models, i know because some of them are mine.

 

And wow 1 person expressed interest and nobody else is an indication that nobody is interested and the thread died.

 

Seriously I am sorry you cannot take suggestions and I gave you some to help you for future model sharing. I didn't think what I suggested was so offensive.
