Dynamic Spells

So, I realize that there are a lot of fantastic mods already out for improving the Skyrim magic system. The thing is, I feel like they don't really add a lot of depth, but rather choose to expand on the original system. I'll grant that being able to summon a mini dragon is cool, but it's still just another conjuration spell. No matter how many hundreds of spells I add, I still feel like I'm just spamming one or two spells that are the most effective. What I'd really hoped for was a mod to make magic more action oriented by utilizing combos and spell chains.

Say if a spell was added to "mark a target", which by itself would deal no damage. A separate spell is then cast to trigger the spell effect. You can mark a target three times for bonus damage and if you don't trigger the spell in time, the marks expire. Against bosses, mages would have to act quickly to mark the target without getting staggered or interrupted, and the whole effort is for nothing if you are forced to run away from the fight before you trigger the damage effect.

Also, I''d hoped to see combos used. For example, casting ice spells followed by lightning might stun the target, or casting fire after lightning could blast the target away from you. Something, anything to break the monotony of simply casting the same most cost efficient/damaging spell over and over again until you run our of magicka.

Or magelight could be turned into a slowly-detonating time bomb, which would require good timing for maximum effect.

I don't think we need hundreds of new spells, but rather a few carefully designed effects to make magical combat more dynamic and intelligent. The magic mods so far, though creative and excellent in their own way, just haven't managed to create that feeling of a spellslinger who uses a variety of spells within one fight to keep his opponents off balance and burn them to crisp. I still feel like I'm just spamming one or two spells.

So am I the only one disappointed both by the vanilla system and the new mods? How hard would it be to do something like this, as the creation kit certainly doesn't have anything that works?

And I'm, fairly new to the modding scene so please don't yell at me if I'm being stupid.

I don't think it would be too hard. You'll need a script to track what spells the player is casting, then compare with a list of possible combos. When a combo is identified, apply a bonus spell or do extra damage to the target. You could probably apply the script to the player via a quests alias. The hardest part would be deciding what spell sequences are needed to make up a "combo", and what effect to apply if a combo is achieved. Though it could get tricky/complicated if you try to accommodate the multitudinous magic mods that are out there already.

Dynamic Spells is a good mod for this. But It would be better if to add scalling duration in Illusion, destruction and Restoration school. And it would be good to add elemental spells of water, air and earth and to remove spells of frost and shock. It would be better to add attack spells in illusion, conjuration, alteration, restoration school. If interested, then I have ideas for new mods on the magic system, spells and other magical aspects of Skyrim.

I will be glad to meet the developers of mods who could put such ideas into practice. Because I do not know how to create and edit a mod.

Excuse me for my english.

Found myself smiling reading this request just because I'm also a fan of spell combos and chains. Unfortunately, the sheer amount of time and effort required to pull off such a mod effectively is scaring me from pursuing it.
