Help with re-texturing banners.

They are stored in various locations, look under architecture/ *city name* or *location name* ... Plus some of them are named generically, for instance the red and gold Wuuthrad banner in Jorrvaskr is called "wrchbanner01.dds" and is found in the "/Whiterun" folder ... You'll have to go searching I'm afraid

You need to extract both the .DDS and the _n.dds files for the banner you wish to re-texture.

You then need to open them in an editing software such as adobe photoshop or Gimp (great free alternative) and edit away. Bare in mind you have to have a dds plugin for the editing software to open the file. Once you have the texture you will need to place them in the textures section in your Skyrim Data directory, then need to get the mesh for the same banner as the dds files, move it to your meshes directory and open it in nifskope. Find the textures and replace them with your new ones and if all has gone well you will see it there in nifskope. I learnt by using this great guide, I think it will help you aswell.

Go to the original .nif file, check the BSShaderproperty for the filepath and exact name for the textures. If the textures do not exist in your exported files but they do ingame, export them again. It's not rocket science to find what texture it is you are looking for. find the nif via CK, open and check the textures in Nifskope, done.
