If you are suffering from the yellow-flickering or shaky menu problem, try the following. This quick-fix will stop the flickering and CTD's for you with the new 1.6 patch.

Some thanks go to the Bethesda forum, where some people came up with this solution. I made an image-based guide of their solution, to make it easier for all of you to fix the problem.

Step 1 - Open the Skyrim Launcher and click on OPTIONS.

Step 2 - Click on the white bar behind the text Antialiasing and change this to Off (best performance).

(OPTIONAL)

Take steps 3 and 4 only if your ingame menu still looks strange, or when you just wish to be sure your menu will look the way it should. Otherwise, go to step 5.

Step 3 - Now click on the button that says Advanced.

Step 4 - In the advanced menu, make sure the box that says FXAA is ticked. If it is not yet ticked, tick it now.

Step 5 - Go back to the Skyrim Launcher and click PLAY. The yellow flickering should be gone from the ingame menu.

NOTE: This is a temporary solution. Turning on FXAA and/or turning off anti-aliasing will change how your game looks on your screen. Keep an eye out for new patches that will fix this bug, so that you can return to your preferred video settings.

I just started experiencing this immediately after the update. As soon as it was done I updated SKSE then reinstalled the SKSE for Steam mod (renamed necessary files).

So far it has only happened at the fireplace inside the inn at winterhall, near the columns of light in front of the mages college and when I have a torch in hand AND.... it only happens in first person. If I switch to 3rd (which I hate) it stops. Gonna try your fix and see if it works for me. I hope so. Just thought I'd add my experience to this thread.

UPDATE: It worked. Thank you. I wonder if it's an ATI thing. I have a 5800

Thank you, thank you, thank you! This also happened to me immediately after the update and was driving me crazy. I'm working on a mod so I've been going in and out of the game a lot and kept reloading inside Breezehome to check how my retextured weapons were looking, and the fire in the main room was blinding. At first I thought maybe I'd screwed something up, but deactivating all mods made no difference so I came to the Nexus to try to verify it was due to the update. Very glad I found your post. Your fix worked just turning the anti-aliasing off and not messing with the FXAA. Much obliged! :)
