Unable to install new mods after moving game to new pc

Hello there! I recently got a new PC, and decided (as I have done before) to move my existing bethesda games over to the new PC, including savegames and mods etc.

This has worked fine in the past, and the games seem to run well enough, but when I tried installing new mods since switching PC the game simply won't recognize them. NMM will show it as installed and the plugin will be active, but somehow they're still not working.

FNVEdit gives me the following text when I launch it: "fnvedit note: active plugin contains non existing file"

The mods will also show up in Plugins.txt, and the file path in FNVEdit seems to be in order.

Also worth mentioning is upon transferring the games to the new drive I also copied over the old install info and mods folder to the NMM folder.

I've tried reinstalling NMM and FNVEdit to no avail. The new game is on the E: drive, which my old install was also located on.

Could this have something to do with the registry or the %Appdata% folder? I'm not a computer wiz, so I haven't dared dabble in the aforementioned.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Thank you for your time <3

Much depends upon how you performed your "move". Simply copying files is not sufficient.

NMM is using an "virtual DATA folder" approach, so it uses "symbolic links" (aka "symlinks") or "hardlinks" (junctions; there is a technical difference and I've seen both terms used without investigating which it is myself) to point to where the files actually exist when you setup a profile. Just "copying" those links will not work; they become broken: resulting in some error like "fnvedit note: active plugin contains non existing file". (I know this is how MO works.) So, before you go any further, check if that is indeed how NMM works. The terminology is probably off, but the basic concept is the same.

That being the case, your "downloaded" mods are in one folder, and they get "installed" into yet another. But when you create a "profile configuration" you are establishing the "links" from the "install" location in your profile. I would say you need to assume you need to rebuild your NMM "virtual install folder" again from the mods in your download folder. When you say you reinstalled NMM, my guess is you did not delete the existing folders and simply pointed to the same ones, so you didn't touch the actual problem.

This is a problem you really need to take up with the NMM Support team on GitHub. (Nexus no longer supports NMM. The old "Open Beta Feedback" forum was moved but is still available for reference and community help.) As I said, I don't use NMM and this is just an educated guess.

I would seriously consider switching to a mod manager that is stable and still has support available. I discuss this in the 'Mod Managers' section of the wiki "FNV General Mod Use Advice" article.
