iakamil
i created a heightmap in photoshop, grayscale 16 bit, exported it as a raw file and used tesannwyn to create an esp with it. i load the plugin and edit the world space default water to -14000 and the default land to -27000. my problem is that once after i apply eveything and load up the world space in the 3d view of creation kit, all i have is a bunch of water with some large, flat, vertical objects coming out of the water at random areasany idea what i did wrong in this?this is my basic heightmapi started out with black for the water areas, went to 90 percent grayscale for the outline of the land, and finished with 80 percent for the interior of the landhttp://i50.tinypic.com/108677s.png Edited June 12, 2012 by iakamil
AlexanderJVelicky
Just dropping in to say you're either going to need to hand edit that a LOT, or you need to make the heightmap a LOT more bumpy. Super flat land tends to be bland and not fun to explore. I noticed this very quickly with my heightmap and had to make massive adjustments for things to look good, and so it had the right mood as I ran around my exterior. steve40
^^ as AlexanderVelicky points out, you want your heightmap to look bumpy, something like this. Edited June 12, 2012 by steve40
VileTouch
what you see in 3d is correct: large, flat objects coming out of the water at random places is what you painted in this height map. remember the ammount of white in the color is what gives the terrain it's height. so if you have for instance that flat, dark grey border between the lighter main land and the darker ocean, what you will see in 3d is something that like a step in the shore. in other words give it more shades of gray and you will get a more natural look in 3d. but don't make the shades perfectly linear, or it will look like a bubble of jello coming out of the water
iakamil
yes i do understand that i need to edit it a lot, which i am going to do using the landscape editor because i am not very good with programs like photoshop. i just want to get my basic, flat land into the kit
