RazaCovek
Is it possible to adapt the horse riding script so that the Player can either carry a companion on their back [crouch mode], on their shoulders or be carried by another npc/companion? What better way to make Martin pay for all those monotonous duneon crawls than 'ride' him like a horse all the way to the IC or through the O-Gates. WarRatsG
Technically, no - the animations created for the horse are incompatible with the human actors. That said, it would be possible to make a simulacrum of someone riding. You would need to find or make suitable animations though, then constantly place the person who is riding behind the person being ridden.
RazaCovek
simulacrum? I'm heartbroken, I really wanted my poor long-suffering Tabaxia ride Martin all the way to IC. I found a mod called 'Daedroth Mount' http://oblivion.nexusmods.com/mods/17983How is that accomplished? I figured if the player could ride the daedroth then they could adapt that concept to any npc/creature.
WarRatsG
Simulacrum = an imitation or representation of something, usually of lesser quality than the original. I remember reading a tutorial on creating a mount when I started to learn how to create animations, but I don't remember many of the specifics. I never got far into it before being sucked into other things.Creatures can be edited to be made rideable, with the right modifications to its animations I think. I don't think it's technically possible to ride any creature that has not been modified in this way though, which probably means that the Daedroth Mount you mentioned is a one-off in the game - other Daedroths probably can't be ridden, depending on whether the author decided to overwrite the original data.I get the feeling that NPCs are a complete no-go, but it would be possible to make something that looks like it. It would be quite difficult to make though.
DrakeTheDragon
As you assign the skeleton used on a per-NPC basis, it is very well possible to make only 1 (or a specific group) mountable by the player. The other way round is unlikely to work though. The difference between a mountable skeleton, as far as I remember, is the root node being Bip02 instead of Bip01, or at least something different to Bip01, as during the mounted phase both skeletons will be controlled differently and with the same root node they'd be doing exactly the same animations... or something along that line. Then there are also some additional nodes only mountable creatures have, like the point from where the mounting is started or where you end up after unmounting, and things like that. In theory I'm sure it can be achieved to turn an NPC into a ridable actor, but it will be with limitations, a complete set of new animations, and won't be easy. RazaCovek
Some one some day will probably figure it out or future games could include it as apart of game. I have the Chocolate Elf companion mod http://oblivion.nexusmods.com/mods/28863It would have neat to have my Character be able carry the smaller companions on his/her back/shoulders.In future TES games the ability to carry injured parties to safety [over shoulder/piggyback] would add to the immersion if not a quest to save the injured. Carry a girlfriend or a child on your shoulders, also immersive.
