Masking mesh parts in blender.

Hi all,

 

It's been a while since I've done any modding, so I thought I'd give it another go. I'm trying to alter the male body mesh but don't want the neckilne to be affected or you get weird gaps in game where the body joins the head. I did find a way to mask off the faces around the neck so they can't be affected by sculpting tools, but I've forgotten how to do it. :dry: So can some helpful bod remind me what I need to do please? I know it involves vertex groups but that's all I remember.
