Edg3k
After the recent 1.6 update I found myself in a pickle. My game was randomly crashing and I couldnt figure out why. I disabled mods, twiddled with just about everything, thinking one minute I found the culprit til I realized, I had not. After enabling papyrus logging I found I was having a lot of issues with scripts not being found, failing to load or just erroring out and crashing so I set about trying to find the problems. I found a few, but nothing and I mean nothing fixed it for very long. Disappointing really as I'd 80 hours on my newest game. But at the end of the day, was my own fault. NMM made me lazy about what mod I was installing, as til recently (last month or 2) I used manual installs. I found the issues were directly related to orphaned scripts and this sucks. I am punished for removing mods that fiddle with my scripts even days/months after removing them, as, if I've saved, they are forever in my game. My question is two fold (1) can a script be wiped from a save game? (2) is it right that this happens? I find it a little annoying that Bethesda has allowed this to happen. I dont claim to understand papyrus or how the saved games work, I barely know how CK works, but is it just more or does anyone else find it silly that you cant scrub scripts from your save games? I guess the save game wont always know what mod was using what, but if its disabled why does it continue to look for it, especially upon loading it says to you that the mod is no longer available. At this point, shouldnt everything to do with it be wiped clean? But anyway, I'd like to thank Chesko and MGE for all the help over the last day or so, checking my papyrus for errors and giving me a very useful hand from 2 experienced modders. Major kudos to them both.
