Skyrim Crash To Desktop(Nothing helps!)

Hm, ok. Next step.

Script logging! THis lets us see if the crashing might be caused by a buggy script.

Try adding these lines to Skyrim.ini or change the =0 to =1 if they already exist.

[Papyrus]

bEnableLogging=1

bEnableTrace=1

bLoadDebugInformation = 1

This will create a log that looks for script errors in game. You can find the logs where your savegames are stored, where the skyrim.ini files are stored as well. Usually in my documents. Once you find the skyrim folder for this, there should be another folder called logs, and inside that another one called scripts. Look for the Papayrus.0.log. See if you can find any stuff that looks like errors. Or post the log using

<text>

tags so i can take a look.

I think it has something to do inherently with 1.6

I just came back from overseas so I just updated to 1.6 last night. I didn't have many mods installed as I stopped playing and was using test characters for modding work. After updating, and getting the new SKSE etc. I find my game is crashing on launch.

It crashes in the default launcher. It tries to detect my graphics settings and crashes. I tried deleting the old .ini files and that doesn't work. Clicking Play and then Play the game, doesn't work, it crashes with no indication.

Trying to launch through the SKSE launcher doesn't work either. It's simply not going.

I'm using the latest NVIDIA drivers that were available before 1.6, and I successfully played 1.5.+ with.

I checked the Steam forums and this is a common issue to warrant a sticky. As far as it's known, NOONE knows what's the problem, but appears to be linked to possibly the .exe file. Other than completely uninstalling and reinstalling, it's suggested to do a system restore to a previous version of the game .exe file.

I would recommend taking a look at the following thread since it appears your problems could be helped by trying those fixes. Since you had savegames with mods, my guess is you'll need to start a new game for it to work right.

http://forums.nexusmods.com/index.php?/topic/703954-are-you-having-constant-exterior-ctds-ive-finally-found-your-solution/

Best of luck.

Edit: Dang, Yafi beat me to it.
